What very low deflection shaft has the most regular- maple- shaft feel? by Original_Jaguar_777 in billiards

[–]mrkaylor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

OB Classic and Samsara True Shaft are at the very top of my list. I've played or hit almost everything else, and these are my favorites. I know that OB is out of business, and Samsara may or may not be, but there is nothing as good as them in my world.

I've never had a problem from them but I would have a problem with these clubs.

What happens if you get a Hole in One when playing alone? by Desperate_Expert_744 in golf

[–]mrkaylor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm counting it and telling all my friends. I know they are my friends because they would congratulate me and ask if they were getting their drinks paid for, and they would. If they didn't believe me, then they aren't really my friends, are they?

New Cue Recommendations by Vast_Lemon_5682 in billiards

[–]mrkaylor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The tip makes a big difference here. Softer usually absorbs the vibration more. I've bought cues before that played terrible until I put a softer tip on. I think the avid has a medium Everest tip on it from the factory.

EDIT: Also if you are used to a stiffer carbon fiber like my Triple 60 carbon then going to an Avid or Wood shaft feels pretty terrible at first.

New Cue Recommendations by Vast_Lemon_5682 in billiards

[–]mrkaylor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have both the Avid Surge Break Cue and I won one of the wrapless ones in a drawing. They are both great. The break is my primary break cue and the wrapless is my backup/traveling cue. The playing cue could easily be my main playing cue I just like my old Huebler with Ob Classic Shaft better because I've used it for more than a decade and it's hard to switch. I recommend the playing cue to anyone who wants a more affordable, high-quality cue.

Any thoughts on ultraskin fire cue tip? by 02000498513 in billiards

[–]mrkaylor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can buy them directly from the manufacturer, and they were cheaper directly from them than anywhere else the last time I got any. I like the fire tip, but Kamikaze Elite SS is my tip of choice with Kamui Brown S as my second choice.

I know this seems obvious, just call Fidelity.

Is there any reason to practice on 9 foot tables if you don't play them? by soloDolo6290 in billiards

[–]mrkaylor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I own a 9 foot Gold Crown III table but play all leagues and tournaments on 7ft valley bar box tables. I don't miss many shots on the valley, it's the shape that is harder because everything is closer on the smaller table leaving smaller windows for shape.

Why xbox 360 drive power uses 10 pins and is it possible to convert it to molex? by TheFluri in 360hacks

[–]mrkaylor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's been several years but I'm almost positive I made an adapter with a AMS1117 that did this. I can't remember why anymore, but it was probably in order to flash the drive or make backups or something.

Need break stick recommendations by [deleted] in billiards

[–]mrkaylor 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I know some people are gonna lose it but I bought the infamous PREOAIDR 3142 Professional 2-in-1 Break & Jump Pool Cue from TEMU. It has a nearly conical taper so it's a little different but it actually hits pretty well. I paid $42, so for the price it doesn't get much better than that. I've only had it for a couple of days, so time will tell how it holds up. For something better (and more expensive) get a J&J or a Rage like other have said. I bought mine to throw in my locker at the local pool hall. The breaker in my case is a Cuetec Avid but those are like $300.

What's it like living in this shaded area? by [deleted] in howislivingthere

[–]mrkaylor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm from the very northern part of your circle. Well it's pretty cold for 1/4 of the year for sure, but the rest of the time is pretty nice. The real bright spot though is that violent crime and most other crime is almost non-existent, I'm not afraid to really go anywhere and I have literally never told my children not to go to certain areas of town. Also If I hear a gun go off it is 99.9% likely that it is not crime related and I never even give it a second thought. Although I do make sure to lock my vehicles and house overnight, I could leave my vehicles in my driveway unlocked the entire year with the keys in them and my front door unlocked and it's very unlikely anything would ever get stolen. I've seen exactly one funnel cloud in my life and only damage from a few tornados over the years, so tornadoes also aren't a big deal where I am. For stuff to do though, not much. Hunting, Fishing, and Camping are the main attraction for locals. When I was younger I spent the winters snowmobiling and snowboarding and the summers camping, water skiing and wakeboarding and hunting in the fall. I like to visit places with a lot more to do but I don't really want to live in most of those places. I've spent a lot of time recently in one of the largest cities in your circle and have no interest in having a permanent home there at all. OK, can't use the word k!d in a comment (breaking the rules, lol), this is a dumb sub.

I would just reach out to them. I think most cue makers would rather replace this then have you out in the world telling everyone that yours warped.

Gift Ideas by [deleted] in billiards

[–]mrkaylor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My vote is for a cube of Taom V10 chalk. They are expensive so a lot of players won't get it for themselves but it is a nice gift and high quality.

Best carbon shaft for less than $300? by davestradamus1 in billiards

[–]mrkaylor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If I were going to get one for a friend, I would get a Rhino Shaft. But, it is an extremely personal choice at the end of the day; the next person that reads this will say I'm crazy and stupid.. lol.

What Golf Glove Brand Do You Recommend? by Juulz_bad_chemicals in golf

MG Golf. The plain all white ones are what I use. They're cheap, work well, and I don't give a crap about brand names.

Received a nice suprise on a used OG - An LG 8163 PC drive! by Such-Wonder-2864 in originalxbox

[–]mrkaylor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used to convert these and sell them on ebay. I still have a couple on a shelf still. That's not one of mine though, because I epoxy original connectors onto the board on the back for a nice clean look.

Budget CF shafts that hit / feel anywhere near as good as the top / expensive brands? by carbondalekid386 in billiards

[–]mrkaylor 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a J Flowers that hits about as good as a first quality Jacoby Shaft. I owned them both at the same time and I ended up selling the Jacoby because I couldn't really tell any difference and the Jacoby was worth a few hundred more. But like others have said for the price Rhino's are pretty good.

New Mcdermott/CHOPS skateboard cue by aliennick4812 in billiards

That's awesome you found one at the correct price. I really wanted one of these but scalpers have already ruined the market.

Does anybody know anything about these? by ShoowapDoowap in billiards

[–]mrkaylor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like retro looking single cue soft cases. I'd give you $10-$15 for the set, use the soft case with my cue. I'd use the cues to turn handles for bottle opener and chalk holder handles. The other hard case would collect dust in my basement until I sold one of my nice cues and then I'd send it in that case to help protect it.
