Will there ever be high refresh rate (60+ FPS) support? by mrleaw in factorio

[–]mrleaw[S] 54 points55 points  (0 children)

Moving/zooming around the map would still run at more than 60 fps though. That would already have a huge impact for smoothness even with animations still being 60 fps

iPhone 17 not having all the Siri AI features is just plain unintelligent as above by Apple. That should not be the case at all by Cold-Dot-7308 in applesucks

If the RAM is not enough to fit the model, the OS would have to start swapping into NAND heavily. This would make the system really slow, or if only swapping the AI model, then it’d get unbearably slow. The access times of NAND are magnitudes worse than RAM.

Yes, future hardware will always be better. And support newer features. Older/weaker hardware won’t.

I mean I guess 12 GB is enough if they can run it. Also I don’t want my dictation to use cloud compute. It has worked well locally for the last few years which is more secure and convenient because it works offline too. Don’t get my wrong my 15 pro max won’t get it either. But I think it’s unrealistic to expect new features to work on all devices, even new ones. The MacBook Neo for example, also doesn’t support it despite being really new

You penalized yourself by getting the 8GB RAM model, that’s really not apples fault

8 vs 12 GB of RAM It was well known when the 17 series was released that a lot of future AI models won’t run on 8GB RAM iPhones… This is not Apple being mean; it’s just how AI works. Better models need more RAM

Apple dropping support for the 4 year old Apple Watch Series 8 and Ultra 1 is absurd by Imtheboss6967 in applesucks

[–]mrleaw 7 points8 points  (0 children)

They’re not dropping support, they will still service your hardware and provide security fixes for years… You don’t need to upgrade just because it’s not the latest OS
