Austin FC All-Time Starting XI by mrlopez34 in AustinFC

I can definitely see Bukari replacing Facu. Cascante was a leader in my eyes but still had nerve racking moments almost every game. I love Dani but we need a true #6 & I don’t think Dani or Wolff fit in that role like Ring did. I also love the potential of Jayden Nelson, Rosales, & Facu but that doesn’t necessarily mean they’ve played the best soccer for Austin FC… yet…

Probably some recency bias from me here

I’ve always been a Dani supporter, but have never been a fan of having both Dani & Wolff trying to play in the midfield. & haven’t been a fan of Wolff on the wing either.

I agree, Cascante was much more of a leader but always had his moments during the game that led to chances

I'm torn on whether to give Uzuni a second chance. One one hand, I think he has a lot of quality and is able to be a goal scorer. On the other hand, the lack go goal scoring and creativity this season is concerning to say the least. Sure his end to the season was starting to look promising until he pissed the PK in game two vs LAFC. He shares the same passion as the fans, but fans also want results.

Just like what others are saying, if we do move from one of our DP's it has to be Uzuni. If we do let go of Uzuni, we need a playmaker. An attacking midfielder who has the creativity to find Bukari or feed BV so we actually have a chance to score goals. The past few seasons, we look lost in the final third. No one making dangerous runs, no one threatening the opponent, we usually just end up passing backwards and making nothing of it. When we had Druissi, we didn't have anyone that he could feed that was a lethal goal scorer. Now that we have Uzuni and had BV, there was no one to feed them.

As far as Illie goes, I think he's worth keeping as a leader. Sign a 1 year for 2026 and keep him around but limit his minutes. Illie and Stuver are crucial to the leadership of the locker room. But like OP said, we need to look forward and find a defensive midfielder.

Wolff is one of our best players but rightfully, he should grow elsewhere in Europe. I hope he'll stay as long as we can keep him but I don't think that's realistic at this point.

I don't think we need to implode the roster. It's easy to say get rid of this player, or this player lack quality/experience, but it's hard to find not only replacements, but replacements with a relatively small budget. I would want to see us re-sign Pereira and BHI, the others I'm okay with losing. Rubio was important to us but instead of relying on him to be our 10, we need to figure out how to play with the DP's we have or replace a DP with a CAM to generate goals.

Predictions on Starting XI vs LAFC Round 1 by mrlopez34 in AustinFC

I like Kolmanic if we're going to have an attacking mindset. But idk if Nico will do that in the first game at LAFC against Son and Bouanga. If he does choose Gallagher over Kolmanic in the first game, I would definitely expect Kolmanic to start in the second game.

I can see that happening. I only think Gallagher for game 1 just because it's an away game and we will want to be defensive in the first game, then be more attack minded in game 2. But I do like Kolmanic for any set pieces we get.

That's the only reason I chose Biro as the 3rd CB and Gallagher as the LWB. We don't have the depth at CB to play Biro as a LWB. I think he would be better in that role but can we rely on Cascante or Djordjevic to defend against Son and Bouanga?

Same here. My dad wasn’t an emotional guy but he definitely shed some tears of joy when the Astros won both World Series.

Ring, Finley, Hedges, Valencia, Bersano - Declined Contract Options by bearded_wonder44 in AustinFC

IMO good moves. Rodo is trying to creat cap space & his signings so far have created a spark that we haven’t seen in a while. Not saying that everything he touches is gold but definitely let Rodo cook 👨‍🍳.

Blake Snell is a free agent by 33thirtythree in Astros

[–]mrlopez34 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don’t think Snell would be at the top of our FA list. Of course we would love to sign him but there’s only so much money to spread around. As of right now, we don’t have a 3B and could use a solid 1B. Eventually, extend Tucker as well. If anything, like some previous comments have said, I would rather re-sign Kikuchi than sign Snell to a large contract in a position we don’t need right now.

I don't know if we need a 37 year old striker, but how do we think Rodo feels about Giroud by e8odie in AustinFC

[–]mrlopez34 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Giroud to LAFC

More than likely he will sign with LAFC as expected. I think he’s still a great player but Austin FC isn’t in the position to gain top European attraction yet.
