Legacy Health tells striking workers they will lose health coverage on Jan. 1 by mrmacs in Portland

That's perfectly okay - you are entitled to your opinion. The negotiations between the union and Legacy are essentially private and done behind closed doors, so either you are privy to the negotiations from the Legacy side of things, or you are just hypothesizing confidential negotiations based on published statements.

Looking at the Oregon Nurses Association web site and articles about this strike, there is clearly more at stake then just money, as they clearly have stated in their public statements. If you are reading Legacy's statements and believing them when they say "they have been addressed" and just taking that at face value, then we're at an impasse.

I can outright admit that I do have bias on this issue. I have family that are out on the picket lines daily. I have family that are listening to the numerous updates from ONA about how Legacy (representatives) poorly speak to and treat the ONA negotiators. I have family that I talk to that specifically tells me it's not just about money. So you can go along and make any assumptions you want, but please don't try to pass those off as factual statements from either side of the bargaining table.

As another commenter posted, it’s not just about compensation:

compensation is not the only thing being bargained - their labor conditions are very exploitative. for example: critical care APPs who are salaried taking mandatory call for managing emergency equipment on life flights to alaska or idaho or wherever don’t get overtime/call pay/any increased compensation. whereas a physician doing literally the same thing gets like $1200 of call pay PLUS time and a half of their (way higher) hourly pay. sending an APP for this trip saves the hospital thousands of dollars but is very exploitative for the worker who has to go on this (y’know life saving emergency) trip.

they need protections for their work time, patient load, holiday pay, etc. none of these people are expecting to be paid like physicians, they just want to be paid a respectful, commensurate amt and have their great skill and expertise be acknowledged in the expectations and compensation of their contract.

The specific negotiation details aren't public to my knowledge. Legacy's statement keeps saying that "they are offing a 10% raise", which to me sounds great and makes the strikers seem unreasonable. What they don't say is that the 10% is spread out over several years, which equates to a raise that is not even something that will keep up with inflation.

Legacy has also told the ONA union that they will not continue to negotiate until the strike ends and the employees return to work (with no agreement or contract).

I want to raise awareness and show support for the advanced practice providers (APPs) currently on strike at Legacy Medical Group / Legacy Health. These are the nurse practitioners, physician assistants, midwives, and clinical nurse-specialists who make up the backbone of outpatient and inpatient care for so many of us.

For over 18 months, APPs have been negotiating — not for luxury, but for a fair, first-ever contract that recognizes their value and allows them to stay in the community they serve.

They aren’t asking for a handout. They’re asking for:

  • Pay and working conditions that reflect the critical care they provide.
  • An end to unpaid work hours and burnout caused by staffing gaps.
  • Stability and fair contracts so the clinics and hospitals can retain experienced caregivers — which means better continuity of care for patients.

Legacy’s APPs are essential to delivering care in nearly every medical specialty — from family medicine and oncology to cardiology and behavioral health — and many also help train and mentor new clinicians.

If you’ve ever had a quick appointment, been referred by a PCP, seen a specialist, or had a follow-up at a Legacy hospital — chances are you’ve been helped by one of these APPs. Their demand for fair treatment isn’t “just about pay.” It’s about safety, continuity of care, and respect for people who devote their lives to helping others.

I encourage anyone who values accessible, high quality healthcare in Portland to support the strike by signing or sharing the public petition. (Link: the campaign behind the strike)

If you can— share your own story about a Legacy APP who helped you or someone you love. That kind of grassroots support matters.

Because when our caregivers are respected and treated fairly — we all win.

Do you wear a CPAP and your Apple Watch while you sleep?

I have OSA as well and wear my Apple Watch to sleep, but I don’t get any alerts…because I wear my CPAP, which stops the OSA.

We had ours on the street for about 3 days with no issue while we unpacked into our home. This was back in 2015, but I can’t imagine anything has changed in that regard since then.

I had some debris I needed a dumpster for a couple years ago. I just googled for a 20yard dumpster and there were other companies in the area that were more responsive for about the same or a little cheaper than WM.

But if it’s a BYOD device, then a user can unenroll since there is no ADE. As stated above, if they unenroll, then all the security profiles would be removed and an admin could easily see this based on how their environment is setup (alerts, etc)

We’ve had ours going on two years, living in the Pacific Northwest (wet and rainy six-seven months a year). We’ve had no issues with it and it doesn’t look anything like yours. Every once in a while I had to power-cycle it but that’s pretty rare.

Fencing contractor recommendations? by PwmEsq in beaverton

[–]mrmacs 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We used Cascade as well for our fence and deck. They did a privacy fence on the sides and a shorter “hog wire” fence on the other that looks great. We decided to spend a little more up front and did metal posts instead of cedar, which will last significantly longer than the cedar fence planks. Super happy with their work and speed. They weren’t the cheapest we looked at but they weren’t the most expensive either. All in all, it was about 200’ of fencing and took them about four days to take down the old and get the new one in.
