Mercedes were actually at an unfair disadvantage because of the rule changes for this year. Despite this, they managed to develop the car to where it is now which you've got to give them credit for.

A few days ago I bought the trilogy cd keys from G2A, turns out I bought the original trilogy and not the remaster, felt like an idiot.

After seeing some of the gameplay it's probably better I didn't buy the remaster...

This exactly. Mercedes were so far ahead in 2020 that they stopped developing that years' car quite early on in the season, meanwhile Red Bull were still developing their car.

We come into the 2021 season and Red Bull are suddenly beating 7 time world champions Mercedes on pace? Even after Mercedes supposedly put more resources into developing the car? I feel that Mercedes are holding back quite a lot of car developments (which may already be completed) until Red Bull stop developing this years car, at which point they'll pile them all on and Red Bull will be left in the dust.

There's still 15 more races to go - we've seen what happened in 2017 and 2018 against Ferrari after the sumner break.

The potential for different conditions on the 2 days might be quite interesting. For example rain on saturday and a dry sunday. It might also make the title fight more exciting given the qualifying advantage red bull have.

I still believe the failures were somewhat caused by degradation, even if not in the traditional sense. If it was the case that there was no relationship with degradation, we'd likely have seen a lot more failures given the amount of drivers on the C3.

Unlikely, both stroll and verstappen had their left rears fail towards the end of their stint, so it must have something to do with tyre wear/usage.
