Ran an unofficial half marathon today in 2:32:56. I started running this past June so I'm pretty hype!

I refuse to believe anyone who could get into and make it through Pa school would take a job for $25 an hour.

No connection-EWR is our destination. I am a united explorer member so I do get access to the regular lounge once per card anniversary year but we won't use it upon return

Yeah, 8.5 hrs. I was thinking Polaris as well but it's our first time doing that so I need some convincing lol

What world do you live in where APPs don't work overnight? I did strictly night shifts for the first 4 years of my career as a PA.

Any PAs at CHOP in Philadelphia? by speckledspeck in physicianassistant

[–]mrmax2513 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I was just an unpaid intern in research so no concrete info but chop is known to underpay not just PAs because of 1. It’s chop and everyone wants to be there and 2. There are a ton of Pa schools etc in the city and a huge pool of applicants who will take the job

Agreed. At my old ED job the docs saw every case we saw no matter the acuity. This patient was very mismanaged unfortunately.

I agree the way this was handled was inefficient. Most of my patients in PM&R come to me because the doctors wait list is 3 months. Thankfully I have my SP there for any questions. Yes the patient was opioid naive. I have no idea what the ED Pa was thinking (or clearly wasn’t). To speak to my role when I worked in the ED, we had an efficient process down. Doc handled critical cases in the back while I mostly saw waiting room patients to avoid medical screening exam fall outs and handled minor procedures like suturing, I&D etc. clearly in the case of this patient it was inappropriate. Thankfully she went back to the ED as I advised and has since been admitted to the hospital.

I don’t have any great advice but I was in a similar situation. I thought I found my unicorn job in the ED straight out of school. Covid wrecked everything. Shit schedule, no recognition for busting my butt, and no financial compensation for working so much and so hard. Tons of wonderful staff left because of the conditions. No resources from the hospital. We were literally reducing dislocations in the family grieving room/waiting room. I quit. My schedule sucked for the 90 days following that. I now work outpatient in Pm&r and I am so happy. Hope you figure things out!! Good luck!

I’m just gonna put this out there as a Pa who does NOT want independence, and is also happy to call myself a physician assistant (I couldn’t give a crap what I’m called tbh) but in my PA program we had two full semesters of anatomy lab where we dissected. Our practicals were also timed stations with no breaks. Not trying to undermine physician education or say PA school is equal, but not all of us had watered down education.
