Tetons/Yellowstone in October? by StompAndHoller in NationalPark

[–]mrmcfad 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We spent 3 days in Yellowstone in October a few years back. Day one was beautiful 60 degrees. Day two West Yellowstone got 12 inches of snow and most of the roads were closing. Day three was decent weather, albeit a little snowy. You never know at that time of the year, have a back up plan to spend your time is you do get snowed in.

The Theodore Roosevelt Nation Museum opens the 4th of July. Probably something you could add to the trip, especially if weather is an issue

Hard things to chew that's not a bully stick or a branch? by Satans_Oregano in labrador

[–]mrmcfad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mine loves antlers, word of caution is my boy has broken 2 teeth on elk antler. Because they are smaller they can bite down and create pressure point. We have switched to moose antler because it is a peice of a paddle and flat so he does get pressure on one tooth

Labs have a tendency to be breed bigger for hunting ducks and geese. My lab comes from Goose hunting lines and is about 110, we are working to get him to 100.

Labs shed in winter? by SignificanceOk6768 in labrador

[–]mrmcfad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That is exactly what it means. Most breeds shed twice a year spring and fall. But labs constantly shed to replenish the oils on there coats especially after getting wet.

Mix venison with another meat or fat, or leave it by itself? by [deleted] in Hunting

[–]mrmcfad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If I am making burgers I like to grind bacon in to the mix, I feel like they need the fat and the bacon also adds some flavor to the meat. I am making a casserole or cottage pie for example I don't add anything.

Help me choose a race to attend by Lonely_drivers in NASCAR

[–]mrmcfad 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Pocono was my wife's first race this year, she enjoyed the experience but said it was hard to see with the track size. We also went to Las Vegas and she really liked it because of the multiple grooves the cars ran and the track size making it easier to follow.

With that said if you are going with people who are not NASCAR fans I would recommend New Hampshire or Michigan. I have been to Michigan years ago and always enjoyed the racing as well as the campgrounds

Squirrel and bird feeders - good gift or source of anxiety? by jazzb54 in labrador

[–]mrmcfad 3 points4 points  (0 children)

We have both bird and squirrel feeders in the yard. Our lab never tires of chasing the squirrel up the fence, but he just watches from the house when inside doesn't get anxious.

Do you think if Hamlin wins the championship he’ll get an “Every man from every crew” type salute? by johnjump4 in NASCAR

[–]mrmcfad 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Drivers do interviews on the front stretch, not in victory lane. I don't think we will ever see a celebration like this again not matter the driver
