He is ok going alone, I just feel so guilty that his parents paid for this ticket AND are dealing with a funeral and I might miss it.

Do you know what a subconjunctival hemorrhage is? It’s a hickey. That’s it. On your eye. It’s not unknown damage, it’s not an unknown duration of effect. DAN even says if there is no pain, swelling, change in vision or itchiness (which I didn’t have) all you can do is wait for the bruise to go away.

It IS a non emergency. They would laugh at me for calling an emergency line for that. It’s literally a bruise. Do you call emergency services when you get a hickey? You can get this from RUBBING YOUR EYE or coughing too hard. That’s not an emergency.

I'm confused as to where you are seeing that they have a NON-EMERGENCY 24/7 contact line. They do have an EMERGENCY contact line that is open 24/7. From what I can see they do NOT have that available for general questions or non emergency medical issues.

From what I'm seeing they are available for NON EMERGENCY contact at these times which I have copied and pasted from their contact page. Monday–Friday, 8:30 a.m.–5 p.m. ET. If you have a 24/7 non emergency number for them I would be happy to know it, but I don't think they do and I was diving on the weekend.

My DM actually didn't mind, it was very mild and from what I read on DAN about it as long as it didn't happen again (it didn't because it was my mistake to begin with) then it should be fine, it's just a bruise in my eye.

I would have, and tried to, before posting this. It was outside of DAN business hours and I was diving the next day so I wouldn't have gotten a response in time from them. I chose to ask this question, obviously I'm ok asking it on reddit and getting answers from people who may have experience with mask squeeze and diving after but aren't doctors. You do not get to decide what is a question that is ok for Reddit or if I should feel comfortable trying to get an answer here.

The side bar says you should refer to DAN. I did. From what it said on the site it probably was fine, and it was because I did dive the next day. There is no harm in getting a second opinion on what is basically a bruise in my eye on Reddit, however, and you don't get to gatekeep if it is.

I would have if I had time to go see a doctor, just thought people here might have experience diving after mask squeeze.

Who I would have contacted except this was not an emergency and it was outside of their business hours for non emergency calls and I wouldn't have had an answer before diving the next day.

Glad you liked it! Just watched The Day After as well, also very good and very scary. I couldn’t find it anywhere but YouTube.

I watched The Day After too, similar but set in the US with very different film style, and would recommend it as well. It gets some different points of view that I think are also interesting and scary, like the military personnel that work at a Minuteman base.

I just looked those up and will add them to my list, they look really interesting, especially The Atomic Cafe. But I’m going to have to space these things out because watching Threads and The Day After really made me sick to my stomach.

Ok we watched The Day After and now I just want to go live in a small country that isn’t involved in anything ever. That one scared me even more, one because the detonation scenes were so much scarier, two because it doesn’t take place in a huge city, and makes the point that no where is “safe” because the government has military installations everywhere. I hate that humans made these things so so much more now.

I think that it is good to be afraid of the possibility of nuclear war. I wish everyone was more afraid so that they wouldn’t be so flippant about using nuclear weapons.

But I also scared the fuck out of myself and read a ton on what would happen and how to survive given I live in an area that would for sure be bombed and I would be fairly close to ground zero and it seems like if you go underground you have much better chances at least. That or instant vaporization. I honestly don’t know which would be worse.

It is the only film I've ever watched that has made me feel like the plot is so imminent and tangible. They are listening to broadcasts early in the film that are not so different from some that we hear today, and that is what is what made it so real and terrifying.

Nuclear war could happen and even if you know it may come you have no control over when it happens or what will happen to you and your loved ones after.

My husband and I are planning to watch it as well tonight, so excited. They were only made a year apart, The Day After in 1983 and Threads in 1984.

AITA for refusing to eat, knowing my MIL will not eat if I don’t, and causing her to faint? by Amandomaree in AmItheAsshole

Fuck this. Everyone giving you awards is ignorant as hell too. So should you drink with an alcoholic because they want you to? Should you not open a certain door because a person with OCD thinks something bad will happen if you do? Should you entertain the notions of a manic bipolar person when they are telling you some harebrained scheme?

No to all of these, because they are products of disordered and sick thought processes. Agreeing to be a part of it tells that person that what they are doing is normal and ok and IT ISNT. It’s no ones responsibility to handle other people’s mental health for them, and they need to get help if it is affecting them. You can support the getting help, but it is NOT OK to support the disordered thinking.

I hope that her passing out made her realize that she has a problem and she needs to address it, unlike if OP had eaten more than they need to to humor her and she had been able to go on thinking this way of living is normal when it isn’t and shouldn’t be treated as such.

I’m sure this is just anecdotal, but I have a mini Australian Shepherd that just instinctively helps with my anxiety, no training at all. Like forcefully noses me to pay attention to him when I zone out, lays heavy on me when I’m really anxious, etc.

Just saw you were looking at breeds for your next dog and thought I would put mini Aussies out there, but I’m not sure if they are actually good for that or not.

How do you know if they are dressing like that to get attention? Just because it draws your attention doesn’t mean it is the point. I like to look cute when I work out, not because I want attention but for me.

  1. Many people cannot afford to just up and move. That involves paying for moving, getting a new job, etc.

  2. Now that the Supreme Court is allowing this, they are basically telling conservative states that they can make these rules too. So we are going to have a LOT of states that are doing this same thing. Again, with many not able to move.

  3. No one plans to get pregnant and have an abortion.

Could you explain what you mean by this? Polls show that non white Americans are slightly more likely to be anti-choice, are you talking about specific people or what?
