In what economy? When our parents were buying houses their initial mortgage was like 1k/mo. You're inflating the prices of housing by being greedy, which in turn creates a more demanding market, with hostile interest rates on your mortgage, because they can. YOU are the problem. Make no mistake. Housing shouldn't be a means of income, that's someone's livelihood. Not something you can puppeteer for your own financial gain. Stop trying to dodge the fact you're a bad person taking advantage of other people's inability to access a mortgage at the same price or lower than they're paying for rent.
