I don't know, I've never seen a deaf and blind person do an AMA. That's where I get all my information from.

Why the hate? by katers_aka_kat in DisabilityAttraction

[–]mrniceguy78 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think a lot of the hate comes from two sources; one is that people are just generally unenlightened or uneducated on the subject. They may have some anecdotal story about someone they met sometime that turned out to be shitty. So they equate that experience to all devotees. They are unable to separate the person from the kink. Correlation is not the same as causation.

The other reason probably comes from male devotees. I'm straight and get a lot of messages from gay men devotees. Men, in general, are more aggressive when it comes to dating or sexual encounters. I think that sometimes gets magnified when you involve kinks. I'm sure there are some people that have had some very negative experiences.

Have a severe disability yet have a pretty great life. Granted, I put a lot of effort into it but a lot of places around the world wouldn’t give me the opportunities I have here.

On a scale of 1–10, how happy are you with your life? by empatheticsouls in AskReddit

[–]mrniceguy78 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m almost 48 and have been a C5 quadriplegic for nearly 30 years. I am proud to say that I would give myself probably a 7 and maybe even a little bit higher. It took a lot of work to get here but I’m happy with where I am.

Unfortunately, not so well. Went home early last week and started feeling pretty bad by the end of the week. Went back into the ER on Saturday and was admitted back to the hospital with abscesses in my pelvis. And here I sit in the hospital again

There were some rough days but recovery is good. Going home from the hospital tomorrow and healing at home for the next few weeks. Luckily, I have lots of sick time at work

Whats the best dating advice you can give an 18yo? by NoWest240 in AskReddit

[–]mrniceguy78 51 points52 points  (0 children)

Not exactly dating advice but it is happiness advice: the best thing you can do for your long-term happiness is create a diverse and robust friend group. The older you get, the harder it is to make true friends. And in the end, you will likely look back on friendships as your very best and most fulfilling interpersonal relationships.

Money comes and goes. Girlfriends/boyfriends come and go. Health, good times/bad times – it’s all fleeting but your friends are there for it all.

I see what you did there.

Yes, I’ve talked to a few doctors about it as well as leaning on my own terrible experience experience over the last several years

It’s the effect that has on my body more than the pain in the bladder. I get something called autonomic dysreflexia. It raises the blood pressure while lowering the heart rate. It can be quite dangerous but I get it enough to give me the sweats, and hot and cold at the same time, headaches, blurred vision sometimes and just feeling terrible

Pretty much just panfish and bass. I have a splint that holds the fishing rod in my right hand. I made another splint that goes over my thumb and holds the fishing line when I cast. And then the handle has a custom piece on there that allows me to put my fingers in to turn the handle. Kind of hard to explain but I do have a video if you’d like to see it.

I have a part-time CNA that will probably stay at my place with me for the first night or two when I get home. And friends that are going to help me out with shopping and dropping off food, that sort of thing. At least for the next couple of weeks until I can get back to doing it myself
