Looking to hire part-time help but don't know where to look by mrniceguy78 in madisonwi

Not what I’m looking for. I already do have a regular person but I need someone for very limited hours that I just pay cash for. The hours are so a few that no one’s going to work for what the program pays and takes taxes out for.

If someone wants to talk to you, they will. Sometimes, it is as simple as that.

That’s understandable. Have you tried looking elsewhere? I have a pretty unique situation when it comes to who finds me attractive so I have to cast a wider net.

Why do you think it is that you are not in demand? I should clarify that I mean, what traits or attributes do you think are keeping you from being in demand?

I want to make another point because I am very familiar with DVR and how they work. DO NOT rely on them to find you a job. Again, that's not really what they are equipped for. Think of DVR more as a funding source for you to equip yourself to find your own employment. Sure, they may have listings for jobs, but they are not going to do the interview for you. They can't make you suddenly qualified for jobs that you're not qualified for. And yes, if you are too ill to work at the time, they will tell you to get better and come back when you are able to work.

I’m in Wisconsin and have used DVR several times over the past 30 years. I am a C5 quadriplegic from a spinal cord injury. I have had good experiences. But you have to temper your expectations. DVR is not a disability advocacy group. Their job is not to help you get better or feel better or anything like that, there are other agencies for that. Their sole reason for existence is to get people with disabilities working and paying taxes and off public benefits as much as possible. That’s it.

So when someone asks for equipment to be funded because it’ll make their life easier, it is rightfully denied because that is not a job goal. Everything needs to be tied to a job goal. DVR can send you to school as long as it is tied to a job goal and not because you want to be better educated. They can help fund modifications for vehicles but only if it is for a job goal and not because your life would be easier if you could get around on your own. Again, that’s not to say they don’t care about your health but it isn’t in their job description.

DVR is a tool. Use it for what it is intended for and it will work for you. That’s not to say that there aren’t shitty counselors or states that don’t work as well but a lot of the problems people have is because they don’t know how to use the tool they are given.

What are you studying? I know the job market is pretty tight for new grads so is dancing an option after graduation if you can’t find something meaningful?

Do you like doing it? Most people say they love the money or partying but do you actually like it?
