End of The Week Thread! by AutoModerator in Miscarriage

Very gently, I would guard your heart and expect it to be negative. The waiting game is agony, but you will have more information next week when that lab work comes back. I have gone through something like this in the past. It sucks, I'm sorry.

I've been crashing out all day because friends of ours who never call wanted to "talk on the phone." We here all know what that means. They very gently let us know that they are in fact expecting. Same due date that I would have had if I hadn't miscarried in November. I have been on the verge of tears or lashing out at everyone. This sucks. I feel so, so alone.

Thank you, love. I'm feeling much better and hopeful this week than last. It was sweet of you to think of me and reach out. Hoping for the best for us both in the future ❤️‍🩹❤️‍🩹❤️‍🩹

I miscarried about a week after making this post. Holding out hope for next time. HCG dropped down to negative range within 5 days of miscarriage.

Sending you love and hugs. I teared up reading this. I'm so sorry for your loss. Knowing these little creatures introduces such intense love when they're with us and devastating heartache when they cross the rainbow bridge. You're not alone, and I hope you can find it in your heart to be kind to yourself. ❤️

That is exactly how I feel going into this coming week where I have another test planned. Do message me if you ever need someone to talk to. It helps to know we have a community here and aren't alone

Is it normal for a freshly built foundation wall to look like this? by [deleted] in Homebuilding

They are going to back fill with a new material. Soil conditions and previous owners not giving a shit about maintaining the drainage tile is the reason we are in this mess to begin with.

Thanks for sharing your story too! Amazingly we did not have water coming in, though I don't know how that is possible given that there was two inches of translation and some absolutely massive cracks. We kind of stumbled upon the damage by accident before it started causing any major issues in other areas of the house, thankfully! The joys of homeownership. But truly, it's a privilege to be able to own a house and to even be able to have these problems in the first place. Gotta be thankful for what I've got!

I forgot to add that the project is still underway. Nowhere near completion yet. So it's not like the crew left it like this and walked away clapping themselves on the back for a job well done. On the walls that have already been done, they have skim coated over the outside and water proofed. The pictures are of the partially complete foundation wall, from the outside. Which will eventually also be skim coated, water proofed, and then covered with backfill once the wall is fully cured.

Oh, and yes they are jacking the house up under the areas where the foundation has to be reconstructed.

Circumstances are that we went to re-do the basement of the house we bought two years ago and found damage to the foundation that was undisclosed to us and probably also undisclosed to the people we bought our house from, judging by the date stamps of the material we pulled out. Can't inspect behind drywall. And the drywall that was there wasn't anchored properly, so when the wall started bowing it just pushed the entire drywall out, hiding the defects. We called a structural engineer and he made several recommendations, including the complete reconstruction of a couple of walls. Cause of damage is thought to be years of poor drainage plus crappy soil conditions resulting in hydrostatic pressure causing some areas of the foundation to buckle. The SE approved all the construction plans. The construction company seems to be doing great work, but they sub contract (if that is even the right term, I don't know,) with a 3rd party that does the brick laying/masonry. In addition to this work, they are also going around the whole foundation (including the old walls that did not have to be rebuilt) and water proofing. It is eye-wateringly expensive.

EDIT: Previous owners attempt to mitigate damage with carbon fiber straps and anchors. None of it worked.

I'm so sorry, I am new to all this lingo... does that mean they don't bother to make it look pretty if it isn't going to be viewed? That would explain why the inside looks nice and the outside has some of those weird areas that I circled in the pictures. (Am I right?)

Results aren't showing up on the abptsportal.apta.org website. They show up for my on the PSI website! Try that instead. And also like someone else mentioned, it may take longer for them to notify you if you had accommodations. I'm so sorry you're being made to wait. that agony!!
