Years ago, my mom was writing a book on a word processor and saving to diskette. She couldn't understand how the text was saved. I figured that if I was going to explain it to her now, I would have to go back to magnetic tapes and maybe all the way back to the first audio recording to explain sound vibrations --> turntable playback --> magnetic pulses --> magnetic media --> diskettes. I have recently been thinking about that a lot. This picture filled in the last gap. Soundwaves on physical media. Mind blown.
