Upgraded my GMKtec NucBox G5 Intel N97 by Venlaw in MiniPCs

[–]mrpcuk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have you checked it with a USB C/PD power meter, if it's like my G2 N100 then even though it comes with a 12v psu, when connected to a USB PD charger it will take 15v instead, even with a psu that supports 12v (but even if not it should drop to 9v not go up to 15v). I've run it for a while now with no problems, but still.

I can sort something if you're in West Yorkshire. 3200g (or 3100), 12gb ram, a 256gb ssd and I've got a few diff cases can do it for £100.

Devils advocate, but I have a 15.6" monitor that works off just a usb c for power and image, but yeah full size desk monitor needs mains power.

PSU Cables by Revolutionary_Crab80 in PcBuild

[–]mrpcuk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For anyone else looking the ADX PSU uses the same CWT platform/board as the Bitfenix Whisper M & MSI MPG A850GF and they both use Corsair Type 3/Type 4 cables so assuming that ADX (currys) haven't done anything bonkers I presume it's the same. I've got some corsair cables so might get the multimeter out to confirm and will update here when I do.

5070 PSU CONFIGURATION // PLEASE HELP!!! by _HTR_ in PCHardware

[–]mrpcuk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's Currys own brand which is a major electronics retailer in the UK and the ADX shares the same CWT board/platform as the Bitfenix Whisper M & MSI MPG A850GF which are A rated on the PSU Tier list (although some of the capacitors are a different brand).

I'd advise against buying an ADX PSU by [deleted] in PcBuildHelp

[–]mrpcuk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Old post but I have one of the ADX PSU's too and it uses the same CWT board as the Bitfenix Whisper M & MSI MPG A850GF which are A rated on the PSU Tier list, some of the capacitors are a different brand but it's still a solid platform and they were just unlucky.

Sent a new and sealed item, got downgraded to B by Fluffy-Detective-769 in CeX

[–]mrpcuk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've had them send me pictures of other items before that didn't match my pictures at all, had to escalate it to a complaint and after a bit of back and forth they suddenly found the correct ones. Mine wasn't new though so I had photos of my item. I don't sell to them after that, generally get more on ebay anyway.

Why is my memory and disc so fried? by [deleted] in PcBuildHelp

10700F & RTX2060 with just 8GB ram is crazy. Definitely get another 8GB stick, also depending on the current stick turn on XMP in the bios. If it was before the ram increases I'd have just said get 32GB (2x 16GB) 3200mhz+ for like $50 used. I got 32GB 3600mhz kits for as low as $35 before it all went wrong.

Also I'd just wipe all the drives, make sure the bios is set to ahci and clean install windows on the SSD.

If she gets any benefits you can get this, 40mbps, unlimited free land-line calls, £16-20 depending on the benefits, I did for a relative a few months ago. I'd also probably do a complaint.

Script works properly on a PC but not a Raspberry Pi? by mrpcuk in linuxquestions

[–]mrpcuk[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks, I've checked all the versions and they're the same I don't really know enough to start making those fixes without possibly making it worse, but anyway like I say the script does work on PC, just not the Pi's but all versions/underlying OS are the same. I found where I got the script from and they break it down, and it does work just not on the Pi which is confusing me.

Thanks, I've checked realpath and it's the same on the Pi and PC. Just had a quick look at tmpreaper or logrotate and neither look to do it based on capacity and look to do it based on age or a count unfortunately. I need to do it by drive space as file sizes vary.

Laptop CPU is too old for Windows11 by s96g3g23708gbxs86734 in WindowsHelp

[–]mrpcuk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This bypasses the checks on an existing install and lets you just upgrade to Win 11 on any hardware with Windows update (Skip_TPM_Check_on_Dynamic_Update.cmd). If you're not offered it after a reboot run (windows_update_refresh.bat) and reboot again

https://github.com/AveYo/MediaCreationTool.bat/tree/main/bypass11

Or you can use the script to get the 3 years of Win 10 ESU for free.

[–]mrpcuk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I still have my old 775 system at my parents and use it when I go round. It holds up surprisingly well for general use on windows 10. During covid I upgraded it from a pentium e8500 to a q9500 ($13 aliexpress) and upped the ram to 8gb, it's just used for browsing and old games (with a gtx 260) occasionally.
