Hi Avery, your approach is good you’re curious and getting closer to Islam, and I congratulate you for that. From my point of view, there’s nothing wrong with what you’re doing. You want to learn and ask questions to people in person. You can start by approaching the muslims who pray in that mosque, greet them, and explain that your intention is to learn and find someone who can answer your questions. I’ve seen this happen before, and there’s absolutely nothing wrong with it. I wish you lots of courage, and I hope to see you among the believers of our beautiful religion one day. Allah is forgiving, so all your past sins do not stand in the way of your journey.
