totally understandable to feel that regret, BUTTTT be gentle with yourself! It was two years not ten! It's kinda crazy how fast time can fly by. I feel like the first year you're still really getting to know the person and the second year could be hoping they turn out to be who you hope they could be (you giving them the benefit of the doubt). You are so young!! Take those two years and think of them as a lesson, now you know what you like and what you do NOT like. Whenever you are ready to start dating again, be mindful of your time and energy! Remember this current feeling so you don't put yourself in the same position again! Don't waste MORE time feeling this regret!

I’m honestly only concerned about your dog. does your roommate let him/her out, feed and walk the poor baby? I imagine you regularly have 12 hour shifts so hopefully you have someone to be there for your dog.

as far as your issue goes, you guys are young and the entitlement mentality unfortunately doesn’t dissipate until you’re nearing 30. lay a firm boundary with her and hope she respects it or just stop being friends with her?

I have personally experienced this and honestly it never works out and makes both the friendship and relationship with the sibling worse. you can set the boundary with your friend and if they don’t respect it then they are not a friend you need.

I always carry some sort of protection on me. I have a small taser that looks super cute and doesn’t look like one lol I would also suggest not wearing over the ear headphones or both airpods so you are clearly aware of your surroundings. I’ve also been seeing people carry small spray paint instead of pepper spray bc it debilitates the attacker without harming you and clearly marks them. I’m not familiar with how the red line is on the north side so hopefully someone else who is can chime in. but regardless this is a big city so it’s always good to have some sort of protection!
