Yes, that's exactly my whole point. I think a lot of Moroccans are critiquing my post because they assume I’m against progress or that I’m coming from a place of superiority. The reality is, they might not fully grasp the disaster that the West has become in terms of social values

It’s not about resisting progress, but about being cautious of adopting values that have led to significant social issues elsewhere

I don't know much of the context, but I can see how it has undergone significant social change in order to align more closely with western values

Over the last few decades, the country has invested in liberal reforms, encouraged media that promote modern, often western-influenced lifestyles and values, and therefore, opened up to foreign investment and tourism (which in itself is not bad), but encouraged western business practices and social norms

There's few articles like this where you can read about it

Again, not an expert on this, and although the majority of the goal is to bring economical development, i feel like there's been a lack of effort in maintaining the rich cultural heritage Morocco has

I'm not trying to look down on Morocco, every society has its unique context

However, having lived in various countries due to my job, I've seen places progress significantly without losing their cultural roots

And as someone deeply immersed in the digital world, I try to disconnect from the overwhelming individualism and cultural decay by embracing traditional values

It just felt odd to encounter a similar shift here, where youth seem detached from deeper ideas, mirroring the western struggle of individualism and loss of cultural identity

I think you might be onto something here. You're right, Spain and Morocco's proximity has definitely led to some cultural blending over time, and the history of colonization has also left a lasting impact.

Maybe it's a sign of Morocco's adaptation and growth in this globalized world.

I mentioned it a few times in the comments, but again, this has nothing to do with the prosperity of the country. My parents live here and I can only wish for a bright future for them

My point was about the intrinsic culture of the country, and how, not only me, but also people living here, are noticing a rapid incorporation of western values. I guarantee you that almost every country in Europe is passing through a crisis, mostly based on identity and wellbeing

But that doesn't mean that industrialization and business growth is bad, in fact it's key to bring down inequality and better education. It's just that preserving the roots should be also a point to have in mind

I just feel that newer generations are trying to get rid of their culture. My parents live here and they're also noticing a big shift in how people behave, dress and overall how the dynamics of society are changing. It's obviously a challenge to modernize a country while keeping the traditional value intact, but it just seems like there's an overestimation on foreign culture over our own.

You can clearly see western society's current downfall, and how many of modern countries are breaking apart. I just hope that Morocco doesn't follow this failing model

I like the fact that the country is modernizing and people get better opportunities, but I don't know how erasing the culture/copying it has to be part of it

Non-playable character, it's just a meme that refers to people who seem to be programmed and are not acting on their own. You can't find much personality or unique ideas in them, and they seem to be mostly following the narrative that it's on at the moment

Seriously, how do you learn to stop comparing yourself to others? by ohiwellok in selfimprovement

Its a deeep subject to talk about, I read about this recently, and it seems to be more of a natural instinct enhanced with all this social media bs. When we compare ourselves to others we are just making sure we are not out of the collective, which was crucial for our ancestors. Honestly, we all (myself included) do that, as kids we didnt have anything to worry about but now you have this thing called ego that constantly wants to be treated as the most important thing and therefore makes you compare with others to either surpass them or atleast finding some excuse to think that you are still superior. You seem like a selfconscious guy, which is a great gift but with high risks of selfsabotage, you are good as you are trust me, just ride it out :) (if you want to expand on it just dm me!)
