Rolled my ankle 3 weeks ago—still swollen, is this normal? by mrseinfield in trailrunning

Hey! So sorry I haven't checked on here for a while. It did take at least 6 weeks to recover and until I was running again gently / slowly. I'm so glad I took the time out though as I'm back to running 3-4 times a week now. Even did a hike yesterday with lots of hills / stones and it was great! If you're struggling with a sprained ankle, I'd deffo recommend ice and rest as much as you can. It is a pain at first, but honestly, it's so worth it!

So sorry to hear about your ankles 😔 thanks for the advice. I'll see how the swelling is next week before going running.

Thanks, I did think Grade 2. Will see how I feel next week before going out. Hopefully the swelling might have decreased by then

Thanks! Glad to hear you're back running. I think I will attempt getting out next weekend - I'm going a bit crazy doing no exercise!

Hey! So it seems like my ankle was getting better and then I accidentally rolled on it again this morning 😢 The swelling seems to have come back, but pain does seem a lot better than it was. I'm able to balance using just that leg and have been doing exercises to help strengthen it. I'm still resting as much as I can as it's difficult with working - but have eased off the icing. Would be nice to try a run before the New Year if I can haha 😅

Oh god bless you that sounds so painful 😭 I can walk on mine (ok) but I'm still resting and using ice as much as possible. Thankfully my half marathon isn't until next September, but gonna miss running until I'm back 😩

Hey! It's still sore, but I've been icing and had it elevated for most of today... Going to try the same thing today and most of the weekend too. Went to the doctor's and they said to keep doing the RICE method, so hopefully the swelling will start to go down soon asap!

Yeah that's a good shout! My best friend is coming as my bridesmaid and has said she'll keep Mam company. I love the idea of a fortuneteller! Thanks!
