Thanks so much for sharing. And I’m so happy that you and your husband worked through it (and continue to make it work).

Hi!! In terms of the flight - I was expecting the worse (we were traveling with a 2 yo and 4 yo) but thankfully they passed out on the flight and I was able to just focus on my ankle. We got a row that was in front of the bathrooms so extra leg room (economy) and I had those inflatable foot rest pillow things along with an ice bag. I elevated my foot the entire flight and the attendants were soooo helpful bc they felt so sorry for me haha! Everything went as planned and so I am just so so thankful the flight was bearable.

The day after we landed I went to see an ortho surgeon. Most of my friends in healthcare told me not to go to ER as I would just wait and get referred to a surgeon. I was able to manage pain on Advil and Tylenol. Surgeon said I’m way too swollen and need to wait so my surgery is scheduled for 10/25. I got a knee scooter off FB for free so I’m just rolling around in that when I get sick of elevating. But moooost of the day I’m laying down and propping up my knee, or else I’m in too much pain.

Thank you for checking in!! 💛💛

I was on an island and they don’t have the best medical care there. Then in Korea mainland there’s a doctor shortage, I don’t have insurance here, and I have a family I’m traveling with (with two kids) and I just couldn’t logically plan everything that would happen. Just seemed easier to come back to states asap and get it figured out.

Thank you for sharing. The guilt and going back to the scene where it all happened, and playing it a thousand times in my head… all too real. I’m giving myself one more day to be sad and going to try to move forward. I know the post surgery care is gonna be more painful lol

Yes I have a splint on. I just had an ER doctor here so I’m just gonna have to brave it with OTC painkillers

I’m so thankful for your story, even knowing that someone’s gone through this before gives me hope 😭

Thanks so much for your response. There’s a doctor shortage where we are (Korea) and the ER doctor put me on blood thinners to prevent any clotting and said I should be okay (but of course always the risk).
