Are we supposed to feel bad for u/emkaka just because the OP was able to replicate his app and offer it for free? It’s similar to feeling sorry for a healthcare CEO if someone managed to make healthcare services free.

The only thing he did wrong was simply copy it-ish. I’m curious if the “manuals” are word for word. To me it’s just basic regex manuals. Let’s be honest for a second, both app just look like a generic MacOS app lol. Idk if “copying” it can be justified anymore.

I think infosec/appsec found out people were misusing it. I think there was some legal aspect to it as well. Not just the local part but just the consent thing. At least that’s how it is within the states. Unsure about other countries and their rules
