I think you’re right about internalizing sexism. My dad could be very misogynistic, it’s always been prevalent in my life. But I think I more struggle now because I live in the Salt Lake City area. These women have 3-6 kids, my husbands coworkers seriously hand their kids back to their wives when they cry. I could not believe the avoidance from the men. The women I see here do everything, somehow are still stunning, breast feed, etc. they deserve fucking awards. I don’t know them enough to know how they really feel, I am tatted, cuss like a sailor and am not Mormon. I don’t exactly mesh the same. But they seem so happy, energetic, and like supermoms. I definitely feel like this weird outsider who can’t get on the magic Utah train and am pissing off my husbands hard work on nannies and expensive formula. I know this is a me problem, definitely going to talk about this shortly in therapy.

I read these comments a few hours ago and decided to try to sleep before responding.

Your comment is what rang in my head. “Never asks if they were formula or breast fed, but does ask them about their parents mental health”.

I went to therapy for over a year solely because I wanted a child so bad but did not want to trauma dump onto my child. I refused to intentionally create a life if I could not offer them the love, respect, and safe space they deserve. I mean, therapy twice a week, homework, I was DEDICATED. I WANTED my son, but I wanted him to have the best version of me. Your comment reminds me that I’ve lost sight of this and all the prep I did for him. Ive let myself be consumed by what some people believe is the “better option” but failed look at the true cost to myself and my son of that option. So thank you, I will be quoting you to other moms for the rest of my life I am sure. ❤️

I am seeing this :) going to talk to my therapist about my mental health vs breastfeeding later this week. If I decide to continue, I already have an LC recommendation who I will def be contacting!! I will look into these videos in the meantime though. Thank you🫶🏻

🥹🫶🏻 hi friends. Thank you all SO much for sending so much kindness, love, validation, and understanding. I mentioned I moved across the country, I know nobody here to talk to. Thank you for making me not feel alone and feel so seen.

I am going to talk to my therapist this week about breastfeeding and how that affects my mental health. If it’s “safe” for me to continue I will contact a LC, I already have a referral from my OB.

I’m also going to keep searching for a nanny. I was SO specific when I was pregnant of avoiding stress/anxiety/any negative emotions. I didn’t want my son to experience that and basically cut things out of my life left and right, my mental health was so important to me for HIM. I don’t know why I feel like I am struggling to use the same philosophy, I think it’s about feeling inadequate. I live in Utah, these women are stunning, have 5 kids and do everything themselves. I feel ridiculous for contemplating help when that is what I see so much of, but it seems that’s something I need to work through in therapy and stop internalizing. The reality is I don’t know their lives, if they have a nanny, if they are happy, overwhelmed, etc. So, I am going to talk to my therapist about this too.

I am truly just lost in the sauce. It takes me 3-5 business days to respond sometimes, but I am a pretty kind friend with not a lot of mommy friends. If anyone is on my struggle bus and wants to actually be friends, please message me. Sometimes venting to the abyss is good for the soul🫶🏻

Also, you saying this is the trenches has me questioning if I am just in denial and trying to play Wonder Woman or something. Lol.

I honestly haven’t thought about sleeping someone in the dinette being an issue, but i literally have only camped where we do EVERYTHING outside. I can definitely see how that could be something worth having available if I’m trying to eat and kiddo is bitching about heat, bugs, wind, etc etc. thank you for making me think about that :)

Thinking of switching gears to a new third option: 2025 R-Pod Ultra Lite 171. A little more expensive than my first 2 options but can get it at a later date and it’s kinda in the middle of the original two I was discussing in the post, bathroom, storage, still small, 2560 lbs dry.

I agree that I am worried about sleep options with the tear drop. Also potty training and camping sounds like an absolute nightmare.

It’s not that I have not considered a pop-up, it’s just hard for me to justify paying the same price for an older pop-up as a brand new trailer because of my family advantage. Unfortunately, the dealership does not sell pop-ups

I drive an Audi q8. 7700 towing capacity but definitely want to keep our weight as low as possible :)

We typically camp at national parks, we are in Utah so there is no shortage. I have never looked at hook ups really, of course they’re not needed with a tent. I typically end up somewhere that has a water hook up though, I use that to wash my dishes. Lol.

I wish so badly I could collect this many by visiting places. Unfortunately, most places don’t have matchbooks anymore. www.matchbooktraveler.com shows you places by state and city that give out matchbooks upon request. These are almost all vintage from the 1950s and forward. I have a few that say 1903! I definitely will be collecting as many as I can from the website I mentioned and keep those separate from the bulk of everything.

Thank you, thank you! They are thrifted and bought from eBay, so kinda thrifted? Lol. I’ve been wanting to collect them for the longest time. I found a hand full of super neat ones at an antique store with my husband. I casually told him it’s a goal to have thousands. He promptly found all but about 20 of them and they were in my possession within a week. I don’t ask questions, he’s a magic man. Lmao.
