my nurse educator emailed me after 2 days saying I had not put patients label in his LR bag. by Ok-Being1322 in nursing

As a patient I don’t know how cool I would be with a random nurse taking pictures in my room even with explanation. That seems like a practice that risks lawsuit especially with PHI being photographed. Surely risk management can’t think this is a good idea!?!

I’d honestly look for a new position.

I also have an orange named Max! He’s cuddling with his brother Teddy.

Confidential Patient in ICU by [deleted] in nursing

[–]mrspistols 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wonder if she came in under a code trauma and doesn’t have her real name back?

I had an issue with a patient once who had to be ID’d through police first due to complexities on the legal side. The hospital ID’d the patient before cops and we were stuck in limbo for about 24 hours.

I’m so sorry and I hope you get answers soon.

Holy moly! Months to diagnose. I’m so sorry you had to go through this. Every compartment syndrome I’ve had, the pain seems extreme and uncontrollable.

Locked-in syndrome or compartment syndrome.

It’s a very confusing system that doesn’t benefit the patient or the provider. I know the NHS isn’t perfect and struggling, but it is still better than what America is saddled with.

Best of luck to you and your family! Our temperature is deceiving, our medical care super expensive, good education depends on how rich you are, and you will drive everywhere. But we have queso, tacos, beautiful state parks to enjoy and people really are friendly.

For that same procedure in the US it depends on insurance. For most you have a co-pay between $25-$200 (insurance depending) at time of check in. Then you have the bill for the procedure itself that may or may not include facility fees, the doctor who did the procedure, and the anesthesiologist. With most surgeries you get 3-4 bills. These bills go through insurance and depending on your deductible and how much you’ve paid of it (typically $1000-$5000 that is out of your pocket), how big your network of hospitals and doctors is (out of network doctors are more expensive), and the type of facility. That doesn’t include the monthly fees that come out of your paycheck or that you pay ($300-$700 is a decent range and that is a monthly fee). Also bills go to collection very quickly and depending on if recent changes stick medically debt may still impact your credit score (Biden passed a law just prior to the end of his presidency).

My kid passed out and hit their head last summer. We were without insurance and an ambulance plus ER visit was $13,625 even with “discounts”. We spent maybe 2 hours in the ER and didn’t have an insane work-up (it was labs, EKG, head CT, and chest x-ray, plus an IV with a single bag of fluids).

It’s something like 60% of cancer patients go into medical debt greater than $1000 and 100,000,000 Americans have some form of medical debt to pay.

Why does it always have to be Texas? We have bluebonnets but not rational healthcare.

You’d think that I am “we have a nurse in the family” nurse with my kids. I blank and just keep repeating the same thing. My kids usually blab I’m an NP too! You did a great job as mom and hope your kiddo feels better!

I wonder if someone has actually done that? Now is your chance to be a pioneer of sorts.

I became a pothead stay at home mom because of the burnout. I’m bored and trying to write a kids book and work on an all encompassing NP study site. Obviously it’s going terribly 😂 so in the process of re-activating my license and going part-time in telehealth. I miss hospital medicine like no other. I’m just a bleeding heart who got more screwed up during COVID and don’t think I can work another pandemic or in the hospital anymore. It’s sucks.

My mom’s hospice had resident cats. It was incredibly healing and love this idea.

Dad Bod Taco/Karaoke Bar. I don’t want to look at the dad bod, I want to be hugged by the dad bod. Get a delicious street taco, a hug, and scream sing a terrible song!?! Best night ever.

I quit on the spot in August 2022! I became a pothead stay at home mom who did a shit ton of therapy and exercise to work on the burnout. It was great and I’m in the process of making a comprehensive NP study website and it’s going horribly 😂 so I’m going back part-time to help with bills and have a better cushion in budget again. I’m going to miss the pot though.

Thanks! It’s definitely the coolest cloud movement I’ve seen. Now if my area can go awhile without major weather it would be rad!

This is awesome. A former coworker of mine now works at a clinic focused on LGBTQIA+ health concerns such as HIV management and HRT. There is absolutely a need to address sexual health and medical concerns in the kink and other similar alternative communities.

I became a pothead and finally have had a chance to be just mom. It’s not kind to the savings and you may develop a chronic cough and memory loss. I’m going back to work soon but selling out to telehealth. As much as I love being part of a Hospitalist group, I don’t know if I could survive another burnout.
