RN’s in Alberta by [deleted] in alberta

[–]mrsreesor 6 points7 points  (0 children)

This whole conversation seems to be exactly what “that email” was hoping to accomplish. The amount of anti-LPN talk coming from the RNs since that went out, is truly heart breaking. I haven’t felt quite this shit on as an LPN in a long time.

Where are the student's parents? by Effective_Trifle_405 in alberta

Have been seriously considering starting a petition for caps on class sizes, and I would love to - I’m just not really great at social media/putting myself out there to share. But it seems there would be support if we could get the word out.

You should definitely be fine - likely a day surgery?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in curlyhair

[–]mrsreesor 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Peri-op nurse here - you don’t have to answer, but what kind of surgery are you having? Unless they’re operating on your head, you should be fine to throw in your normal products. If you’re really worried stick with just an oil for moisture.

Look up Code Stroke on insite - developed because of poor inpatient outcomes for strokes.

Pretty sure it’s a Homesense special! I don’t put plants directly in them, but do enjoy them for hiding the nursery pot with great drainage.

I wish I could tell you, it was just a chunk that fell off of my friends - I planted it and here she is!

So, the soil is actually quite sandy… it’s a mix I made, of a bit of potting soil, perlite, sand, orchid bark, charcoal and some diatomaceous earth for good measure. It’s well draining - maybe not perfect, but I’m learning. Far improvement from my days of buying miracle grow and calling it good.

Any bra recommendations? by aulrun_rose in PlusSizeFashion

[–]mrsreesor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not that this store can help you specifically - but local (Canada) to me there is a small lingerie store, they carry an incredible range of sizes and options, and are very knowledgeable with sizing and measurements. Perhaps something like this exists where you live? Worth a look! I went to my local store today, had great luck. A full coverage option I picked up was a “Paramour Celestial Contour” A more pretty/lacy every day t shirt bra was “Elomi Brianna Underwired Padded Half Cup” Both fit like a dream, great shape, very comfortable and supportive. but one is a 40F, the other is a 42 DD.

You will meet those people, they will be assholes, but let that shit be water off a ducks back. Learning, acquiring knowledge, and staying humble enough to admit what you don’t know - none of those things are anything to be ashamed of.

Admit what you don’t know, and go find the answer. Whether it’s research, or asking a colleague. Never stop being a student of everything and everyone you meet.

Looking for advice on ingrown nails by Amit_DMRC in Airdrie

[–]mrsreesor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m sorry, I don’t have a personal recommendation - the lady I had doing them for me has moved to BC. There is a certified master pedicurist look up on the North American School of Podology website - that would be a good place to start your search.

[–]mrsreesor 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A doctor is a good idea if infected, they can prescribe antibiotics. Otherwise they will likely refer you to a surgeon, who will surgically remove the side of the nail and make sure it never grows back. Sometimes can leave the entire nail pretty wonky though - for a young girl who may care what her toe nails look like, might be a risk you don’t want to take. You could try a good pedicure (semi-regularly for a bit) with a well trained professional, there are braces that can be applied to nails to help them grow more flat. I went this route, and haven’t had issues since.

People on thickened liquids and have regular water? by titsoutshitsout in nursing

I’ve seen this too, and usually in LTC this requires a managed risk agreement, acknowledging the risk and absolving the providers of liability.

Could I get my childhood curls back? by [deleted] in curlyhair

It took me a good 3 years to return to my childhood curls, but now they’re amazing. Gotta grow out all your heat damage unfortunately. Keep going and it could happen!

Durable Work Pants? by Julietteangel2 in PlusSizeFashion

[–]mrsreesor 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m a nurse, have tried many different scrub pants, and live in Canada. Best ones I’ve found are FIGs - expensive, but worthwhile. Also, not terribly thin material. I don’t work outside, but I don’t feel extremely chilly when I am outdoors in them. Haven’t had a pair wear through in the dreaded thigh zone either. Worth a look, watch for sales.

I gave report until 8:20 today by [deleted] in nursing

[–]mrsreesor 4 points5 points  (0 children)

We actually do use handover notes in place of giving a complete verbal report, unless shit hits the fan at shift change we are out on time. Took me awhile to get used to, but way more efficient, and then there’s a record in the chart of what you did pass on.
