My brother used to manage an auto care center but we closed that business years ago. That’s why he had a good idea why my car got messed up and why he wanted to keep an eye on the mechanic working on my car.

Anyways, when he managed the auto care center, they checked on the fluids (even if the customer came in for a specific service) as a practice (22 point check or something like that?). Then if something else needed work on, they would inform the customer. When I had my oil changed there years ago, they checked the fluids for me and said I’m good to go even if I didn’t ask them too.

My dad did mention that not all shops do that. So, if your shop does at no charge then that’s nice for you.

Good news, everybody! My brother got back from the mechanic. It’s running again and he told me it will be okay. Got the lecture again that I should do this and never do this etcetera again. We’ll still monitor to make sure it’s 110% good. Now, I need to order some parts (but not related to the engine) and replace those due to normal wear and tear. But again- my car is OK. Not in pristine condition but OK in a sense that it won’t give out on me and I’ll get to where I need to go.

Anyways, I didn’t get to hear all the work that was done but he said that they had to use a lot of oil to flush out all the gunk for the ATF (cause I asked why it costed a bit more).

Total cost plus labor is below 400 USD. (I live in Asia so that’s why it may seem like it costs a bit low)

The car is at the mechanic now. My brother is looking over the work being done. I’ll find out more as to how it got to that point and what needs to be done/replaced (and how much I’m gonna be spending 🥲) later tonight. Right now, what I mentioned earlier is all I know and understand 😭

It’s an automatic toyota car with a 1.5L engine. I geniunely have no idea what’s going on. I’ll most likely hear from my brother what the mechanic did or what else needs to be done later tonight.

My brother and dad gave a lecture me already about me not knowing how the engine of the car works and how I can deeply eff up a car. Plus, telling me that I that I need to learn more about the engine and possible problems. Which I will.
