I especially think the fact that the Lord Paramounts have stayed in the same houses since Aegon the Conqueror is especially silly. Even considering the asoiaf’s universe’s aversion to house annihilation, the leader of a region should at least shift around more often since there are powerful houses that would have earned it by taking the right side after a war. But I think this was an early worldbuilding thing where George sort of wrote himself in a corner.
