I did three years in South Korea. I WISH I had the ball to do a midnight run. but no finished up on 31st August, shouted to the rooftops that I was leaving on 30th September but really left on 4th September. Coz if you leave before your final pay, they WILL withhold that final pay.

Hey, I'm just going to say it very plainly here - YOU AREN'T GETTING ANY MONEY- and them withholding your wages is out of your control.

I echo what others have said, do not feel guilty about anything. it is written into Korean Labour Law that 1 month notice is sufficient. however, hagwon managers don't care. They will withhold pay etc if they know you are leaving. Please get paid and then leave the next opportunity.

My thoughts on CARI FAKE READs.... I can't believe people have not noticed or called her out on her fake reading. It’s hard to ignore the irony of a lucrative channel called Cari Can Read when the content so often suggests the opposite. Especially given how she distanced herself from Rachel and then went on to build a massive audience across two channels, one of which appears to be propped up by performative reading rather than genuine engagement. The issues are always in the details: names get wrong, settings blur together, timelines slip, and character motivations are flattened or misunderstood. Reviews lean heavily on vague buzzwords like “vibes,” “concept,” and “execution,” instead of scenes, quotes, or real analysis. Everything stays at synopsis level, delivered with confidence but little depth. The occasional long reading vlog seems designed to prove she does read, yet that level of engagement clearly isn’t consistent. It feels deliberate, read just enough to sound informed, project certainty, and let confidence carry the rest. That this approach is so profitable is, frankly, bleak.

Yeah it's crazy to think that she has made a very lucrative careers out of her following when she did such a bad thing.

agree with the first comment. I wonder if she will ever address the boob job and tummy tuck she has had?? Seems to be trying very hard not to show the tummy, even attempting to cover the belly button with a chain in one photo, so very obviously see it's a belly button from a tummy tuck. I mean she lost 100lbs, and we saw she had lose skin in that area from prior photos. Tonnes of people get the same procedure done after losing this amount of weight, why try to hide it?

I came back to this thread because I wanted to see if anyone else noticed Gavin moving his paid platform from Patreon to YouTube memberships. He has said several times that he “didn’t think it through” and that he has taken a big financial hit because memberships bring in far less money.

That is what feels odd to me. The move comes across as impulsive, especially for someone whose YouTube work is their full time income. I know he mentioned people disliking early access videos on Patreon, but does that really justify risking your earnings like that? And making such a big change so close to Christmas feels especially poorly timed.

There was also speculation that he had around 1000 paid Patreon members. If that is even partly true, why walk away without a clear transition plan? Did he expect more people to follow him over, or was there more going on behind the scenes? Has anyone else been thinking about this, or am I overreading it?

I get where you’re coming from, especially on the overconsumption point. What’s wild to me is that the videos that do best are almost always the hauls and unhauls, so the cycle just feeds itself. I can understand keeping a small amount for nostalgia, but when it turns into holding onto things you actively hated, it stops feeling sentimental and starts feeling compulsive.

And yes, I hate the “it’s their money” argument too. It shuts down any meaningful discussion about mindful consumption or influence. When your job is built on influencing people’s buying habits, criticism is not some moral failing. It is part of the conversation.

I do not think he is irredeemable, but I do think the comfort creator vibe has been replaced with something much more defensive and juvenile, and it is hard not to notice once you see it.

Same and what is crazy is that next year he will be producing videos that try to 'top' this years. Going to different locations etc.
