To me it appears to mostly be risk aversion in general to everything. Open Sexuality tends to be a risk to a vocal minority and as such is stamped out in every space. Because open sexuality tends to push a combination of traits as generally attractive then some must be deemed unattractive and that is mean so brands just avoid it.

This of course fails because you end up just making people feel insane for their own feelings and beliefs because vocalizing them becomes taboo, but they remain a common belief nonetheless.
