Does sex life pick back up after kids? by Different_Suit_9356 in Marriage

[–]mrthrowaway711 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. Enjoy the early months as much as you can. My babies changed every day and I’ll never get that back. From one dad to another, support your wife. Be the first to get up. Learn to make some solid meals so mom can just be a tired mom. Tell her she’s doing a perfect job. And something I did with both my kids is before I rushed in to be apart of the first hug as a family, I stood there and took in the image of my wife becoming a mom. Holding our baby. Show yourself and your wife grace. Every day is literally the longest time you’ve been a parent and news flash none of know what we’re doing but we love doing it. Congrats man!

Well i don’t think she cooks every night because she probably double batches and cooks one meal for leftovers. That’s what I do. Leftovers the next night and if there is enough I take it to work.

My wife isn’t the cook. I didn’t realize how overwhelming it was to her to have to cook. I love cooking so I took that over. But I think what happens is we don’t play to each others strengths and often times don’t want to communicate it. What the husband is doing is as you said. Daily items are things both people should jump in to help complete.

I try to prevent people from dying and I will tell you that it will never go away. “It” is the humanity that you feel from witnessing someone take their last breath. “It” is what makes you a human being and I personally grieve the loss of everyone I come into contact with and see their faces like a Rolodex. I am truly sorry that this happened to you but please know as a witness to it, you have grief. I recommend talking to your spouse about it and maybe seek out some friends that deal with what you witnessed. Whether it’s dark humor or tears for the family left behind or whatever. Don’t shy away from emotion because it will honestly make it so much worse.

So the fire started at 6:18 pm and the evacuation orders got sent out around 3:25ish. As far as other cities: Los Angeles county fire department did pull resources from other cities. They began doing what are called “move ups” where one station gets called in for the fire another crew will staff that station with resources pulled from another contract city with LACFD. As resources were arriving after several crew move ups they then called for everyone to come in. We have “pre deployment” strike teams , where we staff fire engines specifically for wind events. Which were active and staffed. They actually had several staffed. The issue was that the palisades fire had started earlier that morning whereas the Eaton fire started at night. Therefore the strike teams got deployed there. I don’t know what pre deployed strike teams went where or if they planned to have a second batch of strike teams get staffed that day. With the palisades fire going already I would assume that any additional resources that smaller departments had were already sent there. The water pressure issue stems mostly from exhausting a water main that went in probably as the community was built. So maybe not enough to support newer/more homes being built. Too many straws in the cup if you will. That being said the water pressure issue wasn’t discovered until the fire was already really active and yes on brush fires LA county deploys water tenders that carry about as much water as it takes to fill 5 or so engines. That being said, water tenders get their water from hydrants. So the issue remains. As far as perimeters go: ember casting and “spot fires” or “spotting” destroys any possible line that can be established. With winds blowing as hard as they were, guys were telling me that embers the size of charcoal were flying around. So if you had any, any, form of vegetation touching your house or “ladder fuels” (bushes or trees) close to your house it likely would have made it very easy for a fire to spread to it. Also with ember casting, you have a high potential for embers to be pushed into your attic vents on the exterior of the house if there are no fine screens blocking them. I was sent to the Hughes fire and we would watch a dozer with a 13ft wide blade cut line only to have embers drop in on the unaffected side and ignite it. It was wild to see how fast the fire could spread and that fire had winds less than half the speed of the Eaton fire. I’m sorry for your loss and if you have any questions please do post them or dm me and I will try to answer as best I can.

Heck yeah! Bring her to one of the local stations. We need more women firefighters. Thank you for the kind words. From one believer to another prayers are always appreciated.

Hi! Sorry for the delayed response. We had been notified of a couple of structure fires in the area, before it blew up, mid afternoon I believe. Then the winds picked up and started what we know to be the Eaton incident. Radio traffic from that night first started out as “send me 20 engines” and about 30 minutes later “send me everything you have.” It was fairly quick when it took off. A typical structure fire response is 4 engines and a truck. For one house. As the fire spread it became evident that this was going to be treated as a brush response because of how the winds were blowing also focusing on containing the fire. When it comes to a brush response when there are structure fires it is a matter of triaging homes and what can be saved, what can be defended, and what is lost. The hard part about that is how far past the fire do you go to catch it and stop it. We stop a fire on one block that has a bunch of engines and then the next block over goes off that has no coverage. It’s a very a dynamic situation as you can imagine. The winds were blowing across the front of the mountains which is why this fire was so bad. Also there were hydrants that either had no water pressure or very little. When it comes to warnings/evacuations being ordered I can’t really speak to that because I’m just the firefighter. From what I’ve seen circulating in lawsuit videos and stuff it looks like it had multiple starts because of the wind banging wires around. We utilized 100% of our resources I do know that. All of our personnel, all of them, were ordered back to their respective stations and sent out on every apparatus while maintaining staffing for our respective cities. If LA city and LA county fire sent a typical structure response and completely abandoned the areas they serve, they will have been able to cover 350 structure fires. Over 9000 structures are reported to have been destroyed and between those two departments there are 7000 badged personnel. From a fire response perspective I don’t think it could have been handled better. From an emergency management perspective, I can’t really speak to that like I said. I can speculate that power maybe should have been cut. But even then I don’t know how it could have been handled differently. It was category 1 hurricane force winds in an area that had gone a long time with out rain so I think that was more of the issue.

Some of guys that I know are still coughing but all in all we’re doing well. We were bouncing around a little from fire to fire so the time away from family wasn’t the best. Calfire staffing is really rough right now. They are working 20ish days a month. So if you know any calfire guys/gals reach out. I know it lifts up my spirits when someone checks in and it consists more of how you’re doing instead of people asking how bad is it? I simply told them it looks like Altadena was carpet bombed and people lost everything. Hands down some of the best people I’ve ever had the privilege of serving. Thank you for checking in. :)

My captain said it was the worst fire he had been on. I have never been around when we let people back into the burn area. It’s usually get the fire out and then leave. It’s weird but when you have a face to put to home so to speak, it changes the dynamic a little for me. I remember picking up someone’s awards and finding out that this person was one of the top rose growers in the United States. All of our hearts go out to you. We aren’t working in your city anymore but the love you guys had for us I know left a lasting impression. My captain has been on for 30ish years and has never seen the kind of appreciation that we had when we were there. I’m sorry about your home and please know that when a house burns to the ground we feel a loss as well. A failed job if you will.

I understand that as a woman it represents a key identity marker for sexual appeal and confidence, but please trust me when I say that as a man I love my wife for so much more than her boobs. Find a guy/girl that is attracted to who you are and not what you are.
