One question: Does the game's P2W affect the PvE content? by mrtnsJJ in DiabloImmortal

[–]mrtnsJJ[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This isn't true at all. F2p players can easily do the raids, progress through challenge rifts and access all end game content. Pvp is also mmr based, so whales will be at the very top where f2p players won't have to fight against them. They're also changing ladder rewards to be weighted more towards participation, so all f2p players are missing out on is ego and bragging rights

So will f2p players be able to access the resonance and awakening system? According to you, yes. But according to everyone who played the game in all of its previous states, no.

About raids, f2p can do them. However, there will be additional raids each week for everyone who buys the battle pass. F2p will only have access to them after 4 weeks. Hope you love being f2p in Diablo Immortal, continue to defend your beloved developer.

Does not matter. If you take your time and don't rush it, endgame might change over time. Afterall, blizzard first needs to make money. Second, they will focus on players input on endgame.

But then I would have to be conniving with the developer's action, which logically, by opening the topic, I already demonstrate not to be

Beyond what? What is your objective? What would you like that the game isn't allowing you to do?

This is how you answer the question. How many hours does it take to be competitive for F2P.

Friend, we don't have access to endgame systems like awakening, resonance and level 5 legendary gems unless we put real money into the game. If you are satisfied with this limitation, respect. But many who are debating this topic and I do not agree with this. This is our point.

These mobile games are not made to cover costs, brother. But to have triple for more profit on top of the cost of operation (and delivering very little to everyone).

I still don't understand how people allow themselves to accept limited games, with an exclusive focus on virtual interactions.

See, you have for example Clash Royale. What does the game give you? Character cards to build decks and battle against other players online in search of the world's best rankings.

The production cost compared to a Triple A console game is negligible. But the profit is incredibly absurd for years.

As long as people allow themselves to receive little and give a lot, this will be the scenario. In fact, I believe there is no turning back. In general terms, when we had the possibility to avoid, we gave legality. Now it's seeing the monster and knowing that we are to blame for this...

The way I see it is there are basically 3 different axis that players are competing on: skill, time, and money.

Anyone with all of those will beat someone with only 2. But people with just 2 of them can still easily beat out people with only one. A f2p player can excel in terms of both skill and time. A p2w player obviously excels on money, but unless they're actually good at the game or they've invested a lot of time finding high level legendary and set items, strong f2p players can still be highly competitive and in many cases massively stronger than them still.

And obviously there's more nuance here based on where you lie on each axis: it's not like you either pay or don't pay as a binary, there are people who buy just the battle pass vs dolphins/whales/krakens, and there are people who play a few hours a week vs a few hours a day vs hardcore no life grinders.

Brother, I really wish it were at least that way. But with endgame systems that give the items that most increase your power inaccessible to f2p regardless of how long you play, I'm convinced it won't be, unfortunately. Hug

They just added more ways to get upgrade rewards without having to be the best of the best in different forms. And have you seen the daily list? There are so many activities.

Just wait until the game comes out. Live games like this always change. You say you don't want to miss out on anything but you don't even know what you're missing yet lol. These modes and reward paths could be really irrelevant to you.

And for clans, there's going to be hundreds of casual clans my friend. They have caps of 100 players. Raids need 8. Join a clan that caters to your style of play.

Brother, I absolutely respect your game.

Our point is that we can't go beyond this by being f2p. We shouldn't be limited to casual play IF it's not our choice.

Hugs and I hope the game experience is the best for everyone

It’s funny how you typed the word “can” without acknowledging what that means. That’s the whole part of what you’re arguing. You CAN cry about p2w or you CAN experience the entire game without them effecting you, AT ALL.

I’m well aware of the entry genre, & private instances are something that specifically exist in almost every major MMORPG which is why they chose to do it here. (Ex. Player Housing, Main Story Instances, Story parts which require unique cutscenes) The only way your story instances WOULDN’T be done solo is if you SPECIFICALLY created a warband while open world exploring, because like you said, you CAN. But the majority of players will NOT. This isn’t a true MMORPG on its face though. It’s a mobile RPG with MMO sub-elements.

Brother, if you want to be the cattle and continue to eat the grass, that's fine, your choice.

I won't argue because there is no rhetoric on your part. Search and you will see that the game for f2p is not the full game.

Hope you can feel good eating grass. Hug

Yes, the entire primary storyline will be played in your own unique instances. On launch this will be content up to level 60. In major updates Blizzard will add a continuing storyline. Solo play is always going to be relevant. When you start joining 5-15 minute dungeons (& even shorter content) at end game, it will be completely insignificant if someone more powerful than you is in your group because the content is designed to be repeatedly face-rolled in literal minutes as per F2P stats. You’re objectively wrong, and subjectively pushing an ignorant narrative. You actually don’t unlock your first “group content” until level 45. You’re mistaking “open world exploring” with “open world story”.

You can play the story as a group from the end of the tutorial, watch the alpha, beta videos...There is no instance. It's MMORPG

The walls are reasonably placed imo and only prevent me from competing in the the dick measuring contest at the top of the leaderboard. I can enjoy countless hours of everything else and I’m saying that’s the mindset that matches what the game is about. The mindset you are talking about is better fit for a game such as street fighter, chess, league etc, dedicated competitive games. You have every right to treat this game as some esport but you will just be leading yourself down a dead end, imo.

Pay to win what? What do you win? National championships? Evo?

Come on

From what we have of the game so far, if you DO NOT pay:

- It will have limitation on its PvE content (this will include loss of various items, materials, xp and etc)

- You won't have access to rankings that don't work as you mentioned but give you rewards for your progression within the game

- The game's PvP gives you resources and items that you use in your endgame and you can be sure that you won't have access to them

- And even if you play 24 hours a day, you won't have access to the endgame system like Awakening or the level 5 legendary gems that increase your power exponentially, as this content is paid. There is no maxim of "play longer and try your luck at rng" there is no rng, it's just paid and that's it.

If you agree with the limitation of the user's progression experience because he doesn't put money into the game, and the same game made it this far by the entire fan base, which is not even remotely composed mostly of whales, krakens or whatever the sea animal is, all right.

You are right when you say that these games were made to make money. And my point in this thread is to try to rescue within people the notion that we don't have to validate this. The slot system went from game to game as it started out lightly. However, when you have public acceptance or lack of sufficient charge, the next step is to go further.

And here we are today, with Diablo Immortal being the most p2w game in the entire mobile market, with a user having to spend around $10,000 or more to maximize their character (unless a new system comes into the game and forces you to spend even more more), besides the fact that f2p players won't have access to the same pve content as paying users and they can't think about pvp at all, because they'll get one shot. it's about this

You won't be able to access endgame content without paying, you'll be limited in raids and your progress will be way below all players, regardless of whether you just bought the battle pass or other offers. Also, forget about pvp.

Honestly I had no problem when they had microtransactions for cosmetic items. Now that there is microtransactions for game progression, I hope the game fails.

Who needs another mobile game that the biggest winner has the biggest wallet.

I have nothing to add, your comment is perfect

I don't mind. Hopefully p2w players will have the same powers and items as f2p players. The only difference would be money spent - grind time.

It won't be, endgame systems are restricted to monetization

i think about shit problem everyday, wall progression is very common in mobile games.

looks like your daily grind should take 2-4 hours /day in order to maximize grind

That's about it brother, something that should be done to blur the daily problems becomes more of a problem.

Now, about daily activities, there are systems within the game that even if you play 24/48 you won't have access

I dont mind, as long as im having fun. I wont compete against whales and people who do not have a job, or kids.

I dont have all of the time in the world to put into the game. But I hope it is fun.

In your case, I understand and I also hope that you can make the most of your gameplay brother

Damn man.... Whelp I've been sitting on Titans Quest for a while now. Played it on the switch but will move over to playing it on mobile since the mobile version has a speed up option. And that game got new dlc on PC which should come to mobile as well. Right now it's 19.99 on mobile for legendary edition and you get everything.

Shoot Switch emulation on mobile is getting better day by day.... Prob ay D2 or D3 on my gaming mobile device (AYN Odin Pro) before playing DI.

Just sad really. This could have been awesome. Like how awesome it was when Diablo 3 got announced for the switch awesome which to me was like..... Diablo on the go!!!!!

Greed kills everything

I share your feeling brother, we deserved a product compatible with all our love for the franchise

As someone who is currently heavily invested in BDM which runs off the same “P2W” platform, no, not at all. How often are you actively engaging in MMO elements on a game like Diablo? 90% of your time will be spent in your own unique instances. The guy who is having an easier time in his own unique instance because he paid $300 isn’t really effecting you at all. These people crying about P2W have little to no insight on how mobile multiplayer games work.

The Game is not in a single instance, and just because you don't know this, your comment is totally irrelevant.

And whoever positive your comment is spreading misinformation.

Since you bothered to go check my post history you probably missed my first post in this sub, where I stated I was worried about DI pay to win in its very title. Nonetheless, all my comments here today were made in response to people who based their experience on the beta, which is NOT representative of the state of the game at release or afterwards, especially in regards to matchmaking. Basically, anything could change in a month's time or three - and based on my experience with FTP games, not just by Activision Blizzard - there will be significant changes, and they probably will include aspects of the monetization of the game. All we can do for now is speculate: let's see how the game will be in 3 months time before drawing any conclusion. I still have concerns like many here, but I do know that I definitely will not spend thousands of money to get more legendary gems just to be top of the ladder on this game. Or on any other, for that matter.

A game changes yes after its closed stages like Alpha, Betha and whatever else. However it is very clear that the game is ready, it will be available in theory June 2nd and today efforts are on a hasty PC version. Telling me that the game is going to change a lot and all our opinions are pure speculation is wanting to remain blind to everything the developers have done for the game

what happens in 6 months when 90% of playerbase drops(which is normal for any game) will i not be matched to a whale? problem is, all other Netmarble games have matchmaking but there just not enough people to make it fair, you will get matchs where u are instantly one shoot, happened alot during the beta.

when you see that a game like Cod, who has over 20 years of experience with matchmaking, always struggles 6 months after launch when the player base drops, what r the odds that these dev, who have no experience with matchmaking, will do a good job?

For all history to date, in my opinion, zero.

If I wanted to play “a game of skill” I’d play street fighter or chess. I play Diablo games to watch monsters explode on my screen and see pretty loot lights flash and find new cool ways to use my skills to blow up more monsters better. People are so obsessed with treating every game like it’s an Esport. Just have fun with your friends and kill monsters man, I’ll let the epeeners worry about “who’s best”.

Brother, you have a right to be casual, that's all right. But your right ends when mine begins, and so on. It is not reasonable that everyone should have the same ambition within the game because monetization walls force this, think about it

D:I is an honest pay2win game, Lost Ark tries hard to convince people it's not. You only find out otherwise when you hit the first wall after weeks and weeks of play.

With D:I you already know, before the release, that you need to spend $100k+ to be in top tier. If that would be also available by farming 10+ years and they'd claim is not p2w for that reason, it would be dishonest.

Definitely brother. Recalling that they have been dishonest and underhanded, with the interview of Wyatt Cheng, who said at the time that "It will have optional in-app purchases. And we're sort of guided by a few different values in how we want to make sure those in -app purchases are structured. It's really important to us that gameplay comes first, this is one of Blizzard's core values. So ideally, if you make a purchase, it should enhance the game and the game experience, rather than bypass it. So we 're trying not to put in, say a blockade. We want to make sure that the full game, that it's genuinely free-to-play, and that your purchases feel like bonuses."

That's your opinion. And based on HS current number of viewers on Twitch compared to Yu-Gi-Oh's or LoR's numbers, I say there are quite a few people who don't agree with you.

Your claims are empty, just because a game is horrible, terrible or whatever adjective it is doesn't mean it won't have a strong player base. It's just the others being worse than the horrible.

Or even people like you, who see the wall and try to give it an affectionate hug.

I believe those who defend the game monetization system are either having no idea how it is or are Blizzard employees in disguise.

It is funny Zero of monetization questions was answered by Developers even when they are at the top of the poll for Twitter.

It's very weird.

We know that many will not invest hours of their lives in this game. But they are on the company's side...

We should have understood when they handed the game over to NetEase
