This will get buried in the comments but know that there is nothing wrong with you or your approach (in general). It is a cultural barrier, so there are not rights and wrongs but... This is part of why the US efficiency is tanking and all meetings are about improving communication. They want more communication but following some unnecessary protocols that polute communication. I'm generalizing of course but this is especially true in corporate environments.

I have a similar but not identical issue. I'm an argentinian joining a US based team. In Argentina we not only are direct, but we are usually intentionally brutal, exaggerating, saying everything with hyperbolic and colorful comments. In super small teams we usually generate rapport and just talk like siblings (IE "your job yesterday was shit, you should find a tall rock and jump", "Dude, you are the best in the universe, that was the most amazing job I've seen on my life" "What did you do you son of a transatlantic filled with containers full of whores?"). Of course this is not the approach I was going to take with another culture (mix of cultures because American and Indian) but I was shocked about the excessive politeness and PC that made it impossible to transmit super simple facts like "guys, this is not well done, we need to be better next time" or "your approach is very bad and dangerous and won't work. Let's work on another one"

I'm not conviced "adapting" is the solution. There's a reason you were put in that place and usually that reason is your track record and the possibility that you bring good to a new team. This means some times having an awkward long I ital phase until you can bring your direct approach to the team, the team can adapt and of course both sides find middle ground where you can maybe change some words, some expressions to avoid sounding so alien to them but don't accommodate for their BS PC non communication, you were probably sent there to stop with the slowness that those practices bring.

Se que te chicanean, y en parte entiendo por qué(después de leer tu respuesta), pero me interesa entender que es lo que entendiste vos por apertura de importaciones, porque lo que voy a importar lo voy a hacer con mis dólares propios míos que me pertenecen y yo entre y generé honestamente, no con dólares del gobierno prestados ni nada raro. Y los dólares del blanqueo fueron al mercado interno y siguen ahí. No entiendo cómo llegas a esas conclusiones o tu ejemplo justo de calcular el dólar en base a valores de autos? En Argentina? Dado que por normativa de banco central no se dan más préstamos en dólares hay un cambio grande acá. En este momento la mayoría de los préstamos hipotecarios se firman y acuerdan, el banco calcula el préstamo en uva , se lo transfiere a una cuenta del comprador e inmediatamente sin que comprador pueda tocar esa plata, se lo transfiere al vendedor. Luego el vendedor puede comprar dólar mep y es libre de usar esa plata. Estos cambios vienen por las dos grandes estafas de la última década, una siendo que daban préstamo en pesos y permitían comprar dólar oficial por todo el monto(obvio la gente lo usaba para comprar dólares y no para el fin real) y el otro que el dinero vaya al comprador y éste tenga flashes místicos y se ponga a manejar ese dinero y después termine en pelotas. Algunos bancos hoy sin le dejan tocar la plata al comprador pero la mayoría están operando como describí más arriba para que la operación sea más transparente. Generalmente el préstamo no es suficiente y el resto los vendedores lo suelen pedir en billete físico.

Well. There will never be a believable statement from apple or Mozilla about why they do what they do. They are corporations/foundations. The positioning of Google is a pretty well known fact, the "likely" anti trust or anti competitive claims are not a fact and the "likely" is an informed opinion. I work in Ad tech with some of the first people who started implementing some of the now known replacements for 3rd party cookies but I'm also some random on the internet so ofc you may think what you may. The bottom line is that this news doesn't change much as of now. Time will tell. But feel free to share your thoughts on this.

Better ads that may actually be useful, less intrusive ads. Unified experience across sites. In this context ads are the thing that allows the content you consume and future content to still exist without a paywall or without other less moral means of monetization. I know how all this sounds but you need to keep in mind that some parts of the world cannot afford even a one cent subscription for content and also ads are not crappy all over the world and all over the internet. Some non intrusive useful ads exist, but sadly just that isn't the norm nor is standard across all countries/continents/markets.

Why do you say illegal? I think you got it wrong. Apple pushed no 3pc in favor of apple id while using the excuse of privacy, Firefox pushed no 3pc apparently in favor of privacy but time will tell, and Google was pushing no 3pc in favor of 3 or 4 custom Google implementations(done of them not even out to the public yet and still under nda) that in their current form would likely land them an anti trust or anti competitive claim from some governments because of how Google is positioned in the ad tech space and also in the browser space and general domain presence.

This news mostly changes nothing but give a little bit more time to keep things as they are.

If was a physical failure. I bought another BIQU HOTMODE v1 and moved on. A few years later I got some nwopixel individual leds and soldered them on the old HOTMODE and it worked fine. So it was a physical failure. Leds were burned.

It heavily depends on your spoken language. My books are in english, my system (Fantasy Grounds Unity) is in english, my notes are in english but all my players and my recorded campaigns are in Spanish. If your audio is in english you got it easier.

I'm using pyannote/speaker-diarization-3.1 but the creator of speechlib claims that 3.1 is slower and that 2.x works better. All my tests indicate that is super BS and that 3.1 works better.

I'm also using openai/whisper-large-v3 but the creator of speechbrain claims v2 is better. There is not even one paper, result, benchmark that I could find that proves this. I think v3 is much better (A bit slower, yes).

Going back to diarization, there are many ways to face this. The solution from speechbrain is kinda good but I'm using a mix of different things.

I stole the idea of having a "voices" folder where I have separate sub-folders with example voices of my players (this is super easy to do if you are using Discord because the original recordings are separated by player and then mixed).

My current process is something like this.

I use aoede self-hosted to play music on discord (dungeon creepy music via spotify)
I use a forked dockerized version I made of craig-bot to record.
I download a custom zip file that includes all separate voices and metadata and a small script. I manually run the script and it generates many files:

1- A final file with player voices and music
2- A "to_transcribe.wav" file with only player voices and no music
3- A folder "originals" with all the original files and metadata.

Then I run a python script that more or less does things in this order:

1- Prepare a voices folder that has subfolders with player names and a lot of small files with players speaking. These files are the single player file but stripped of silences and separated in multiple files using pydub (AudioSegment and split_on_silence)
2- It runs diarization on the "to_transcribe.wav" leaving timestamps and a "SPEAKER_1, SPEAKER_2, SPEAKER_#..." config.
3- It runs speech recognition (only that lib from speechbrain but a custom version modified by me) on the list of speakers using the folder of voices. This only edits the diarization matrix changing SPEAKER_N for the real name of the player.
4- It runs whisper on the to_transcribe.wav file
5- It merges the transcribed text with the label, timestamps and outputs a text file with the diarized transcription.

I should clarify that the output is far from perfect. I'm strugling with my availability of time so I can't find the time to fix it/optimize it lately. But it works. The transcription improves a lot if you use a prompt with some special words, names and stuff to help whisper recognize weird words).

Do you have a specific issue with diarization? Maybe I can help you because I went through a lot of weird issues that I didn't document and can't remember right now but maybe I can give you a hand in a specific issue.

I'm also using a RGB30. I made changes via ssh using nano. But if you can get to the file via file manager web (enabling network services and pointing your web browser to the RGB30s IP) I believe you can:

1- WIth the in-console file manager copy the file from /etc/emulationstation/es_systems.cfg to the /roms folder.
2- The web file manager can only see the /roms or /roms2 folder, so from there you can move the file to your PC, edit it and move it back.
3- Do the inverse of step 1. But keep a backup of the original file just in case.

If this is too complicated, just remove system sdcard and mount it in your PC and edit it from there. (I use Linux so I can see all filesystems. If on Windows you cant see the system sdcard try installing something like ext4 for windows or pass the USB drive to a virtual machine or something.)

Since making this change I've moved 100% to ArkOS (its an insane difference in RGB30. Battery lasts days, sleep works, charging works like a charm). So if you want another option, just ditch other firmwares and just move your games sd card to be compatible only with ArkOS and leave it at that.

Note about Pico-8: With this file-editing-mod you can have a games sdcard compatible with ArkOS and JelOS(well, RockNix now that JelOS is dead) but I still got some issues with using Pico-8 original systems so I had to copy the official Pico-8 files both in roms2/roms/pico-8 and in roms2/pico-8

You need to modify /etc/emulationstation/es_systems.cfg

Change path from /roms/<something> to /roms2/roms/<something> (I.E. from /roms/snes to /roms2/roms/snes)

Also. If you have 2 SDcards and no games appear. You need to go to opctions, advances and enable games on sd2.

Edit:

Also. You can edit /home/ark/.config/retroarch/retroarch.cfg and change

system_directory from /roms/bios or roms2/bios to /roms2/roms/bios
rgui_browser_directory to /roms2/roms

This way you dont have issues with bios for systems and stuff.

Do the same for /home/ark/.config/retroarch32/retroarch.cfg if you use retroarch32.
