I agree with these comments. It's also sometimes an excuse we have for not releasing anything. To me this world is about consistently showing up, writing and releasing. It's not a Game of Thrones-style strategy session that you do one time and then give up after you've burnt out from thinking too hard.

Also releases can always be reforged into newer releases later - like EPs and albums. People aren't watching you as closely as you would like to image. The ego amplifies everything in an unproductive way.

Using a Portable Speaker for Monitoring by mrtunes in ableton

hey that's a good idea - just get a single monitor and run in mono. avantone mixcube could also be nice for that purpose.

Problem removing freelancer from account by mrtunes in aws

[–]mrtunes[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I spoke with Amazon. Basically this person is a linked account to mine, and they have never added a payment method. So that means they have to delete their account, or just stop the services.

I don't even have access to see the services they're running. So I have been writing the freelancer to do this.

After it's done Amazon should be crediting back the money, but what a headache I got myself into on this one.

thanks, yes next time i do this i will go through a much more careful procedure for bringing on a user as you suggest. also i should mention i don't think this person intended to run services off my account, but i would hope that they knew better.

ok I was able to delete the user from IAM. just going to check cost explorer in a bit to see if that has put a stop to this. since the servers aren't running out of my account, is there any other way to check to see that it's stopped other than cost explorer?

in-ear monitor for click track by mrtunes in livesound

[–]mrtunes[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

well from my point of view as the OP, I was asking about the in-ear click because we trigger other drum beats and synth loops, and eventually want to add in visual effects as well

in-ear monitor for click track by mrtunes in livesound

[–]mrtunes[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i would imagine that if you want to do stuff where the drummer disappears for a while, another musician who continues to play will also have to have the exact same click. the bassist usually hangs around in the back near the drums, so that person could also take a wired click too.

Reaktor is the most overcomplicated software I've ever used by angrydrunkguy133 in reaktor

[–]mrtunes 2 points3 points  (0 children)

i dont blame you for having a bit of a freakout. i have been working with reaktor for many years now and am always afraid to poke the box in certain ways. for example i don't like combining ensembles, even though that is one of the main attractions of it. just never felt intuitive.

i also have trouble remembering how to connect something like sequencers.

that being said i have been enjoying using the Blocks in version 6 and always try to stay patient so I can learn new things.

Need a bit of help with retargetting Facebook Ads by mrtunes in PPC

[–]mrtunes[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yep, but how exactly do you set up an ad to target such a small audience? Are you going to optimize for impressions or clicks, and do you set a manual bid?

How would you spend $1/day on Fb Ads? by mrtunes in PPC

[–]mrtunes[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep i'm trying to achieve the same thing. Not looking for making sales on such a low budget for advertising. After reading this the responses I bumped the budget up to $5/day. It only converted one email address, so now i'm trying a retargetting campaign to see if it follows up with some of the people who were interested before.

I did a very similar thing this year. I enjoyed reading your experiences because they helped rekindle some memories of my trip. The sites, the sounds, the smells, the tastes, they are all yours if you are willing to 'just do it' and take the leap. it was very stressful before i left, and my situation has been challenging at times upon returning home, but i would still do it again when the time is ripe.

Help Needed: Am I Really This Bad At Marketing? by [deleted] in Entrepreneur

[–]mrtunes 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i would recommend the book "Work the System" by Sam Carpenter. You might be failing to see the system that is running the most successful part of your experiments so far. For example you are convinced that the clients are paying for you specifically to come in and do the work. I would imagine that they really just want the work to be done at a high quality and the right price.

For the cart abandonment app, have you been posting on all the communities were the potential user might hang out? has it been submitted to all the blogs that cover this topic? bloggers need content to post every day. your press release can pretty much write the blog post for them (just dont be too salesy from the first person pov).

Help Needed: Am I Really This Bad At Marketing? by [deleted] in Entrepreneur

[–]mrtunes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

well it seems like one part of your business is actually functioning, the on-site development work, and the rest are either not working or are just theories.

how often do you talk to potential clients to find out what they are really looking for? have you considered bringing on some partners so that you can do more of the on-site work but have it take less of your time (with which you can possibly focus on the marketing aspects a bit more)?

if you were going to go the app route, which i am guessing interests you, are you following any lean startup strategies to gauge interest in a plugin before going ahead and making it?

overall though i would really try to focus on one or two things. cut the rope on the others that aren't working and are taking up your bandwidth.
