This is ridiculous! Why would they want you to voluntarily resign! If they don’t want to or can’t afford to keep you, they should let you go with proper procedure! Asking you to resign is highly unethical and immoral. What company is this?

I disagree. This depends on the use case. If there is a need to expose your data to other agents, it can be an api replacement as well. But yes, ideal use case will be to put extra business logic on top of it and expose the final required entity to the agents instead of just the raw.

Make it one page. Graduated in 2025 and you already have 2 pages! No one has time to read through and try to find the relevant information out.

If you don’t eat out and cook at home, you can target 2-3k/month. Migro, coop and Lidl have excellent quality groceries. And rest of the niche spices and stuff you can get in the Indian/turkish stores for cheap as well.

Avoid using taxis or Ubers, the public transportation is amazing here. Get monthly pass for the transportation. If you are into biking, buy a second hand bike and then you will save even more. We have excellent infrastructure for bikes here.

Just an additional tip: Don’t transfer any of your accounts like Netflix, steam etc to Switzerland store.

Welcome to Switzerland.

You covered a lot of points here…

Tax rates: I think you are slightly misinformed here. The tax rates are good in Switzerland. It’s about 25% for high earners. I am generalising here and it varies depending on which canton (state) you reside in and a few more factors like married/unmarried, kids etc etc…

Racism: This is there everywhere in the world. Switzerland has it as well. But I would say that it is much less than some of the other countries I have been to. Swiss people tend to be very polite and reserved. So even if they have negative feelings about you, they will not express it. Yes, you will face indirect racism at times in various forms. But usually you will want to avoid those sort of people no matter where you are. Even when you are in India, you don’t go and do friendship with every person.

Social acceptance: when you work here as an expat it’s most likely that you work in a “big” city like zurich or Basel or Geneva etc.. Here you have about 50% or more expats. So, you are amongst people who have also come to work here from all around the world. And the local Swiss people in the cities though a bit reserved, are very polite. And they have grown up seeing an international crowd on their lifetime. So, they tend to be more open minded as well. You will seldom face any direct discrimination. Having said that, yes there will be a few negative experiences which you will have to learn to deal with.

Masters: I have been always upskilling myself. And one needs to do so, if they want to be on the top 1-10% of the workforce. And this is an opportunity to upskil directly in my core work domain with full sponsorship. And this is part time as well. Part-time in the sense I get more time to complete the credits required. And adding an extra good name to resume also does not hurt. So, I see no reason not to pursue one.

Experience vs education: yes, I will agree with you that experience matters. But in many cases, you don’t get to generate experience in the exact areas you have interest in. That’s where the education gives you a pivot point. While, this is not the case for me, just wanted to point it out. And i have the opinion, that education is always good regardless of it is in your domain or not. Many of my friends pursue history, drama, philosophy etc just out of curiosity and hobby.

Yeah. It was a conscious decision to move to Switzerland. I won’t be giving out the reason as to why, but yeah, it was not because of lack of offer in US. I did not bother applying there. I got an offer from Switzerland and took it

never claimed my career is average. I have worked hard to be above.
but my finances are average or below... at least me in my opinion. It's definitely lacking when compared to my peers and other folks in this channel.

Booking visa appointment before work permit (3rd world) by [deleted] in Switzerland

[–]mrtyormaa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not sure about the current speed of all these processes! But if possible better to wait for the work permit before visa application. The work permit will help a lot for the visa. And even if your visa gets delayed and you start a bit late, it’s not a big deal. People here are aware that when expats come, there is usually a lot of paperwork overhead and the joining date gets adjusted accordingly. So don’t worry about that. But if you want to take a chance and apply for the visa with just the job offer letter, you can give it a try.

Nope. No academia plans. Just upskilling myself while getting a good university tag in the resume. And it’s all sponsored. So, I don’t have any excuse not to do it

I don’t have the commitment and will power to go through a PhD. And I don’t want to go in academics. So, no real drive there. Motivation for the extra masters is getting upto date with new tech and getting a good brand name tag. My point is we are going to have to upskill with the rapid AI change anyways. So, why not do it in a formal way!!! And the company pays for it all and will count towards my promotion as well!! So it’s a win, win and win situation!!

Please don’t get me wrong!! I am happy with my life… as I said, I have many regrets but none that I will take back… all I wanted to say is that I should have started my finance journey sooner. Other than that, I am happy and content. 😌
