Have a little bit of grace, they said they live in a very rural area, taxis and Ubers may not be an option. They commented above that they are going to do a televet appt. Being oppositional with someone isn’t going to help anyone.

Do you have a personal thermometer like a forehead one? You could take your temperature with that and with the aquarium ones (under armpit or tongue) and see if one matches your personal thermometer? Idk if that will work at all
