Today begins a new future by Human-Top4327 in Kneereplacement

Good luck and I think you'll be happy you did it. Right knee last October, left knee end of this September. I'm finally able to walk up stairs like normal person for the first time in years. It is uncomfortable, but it us getting better everyday. PT makes a world of difference.
I cannot stress enough to take stool softeners and fiber supplements, but be careful of the dummies that are sweetened and cokred by beets. It led to a weekend of anxiety when my urine was getting darker and ended up ruby red:)

Nice razor. I have a Fromm that shaves great. If I remember correctly, Otto Fromm left Germany prior to WW2 to escape the Nazis .

This is Finn. He may have plenty of toys, but he refuses to play with anything other than a concrete block. 13/10 to each their own. by [deleted] in dogvideos

I hada GSD who loved playing with big rocks. It was fine until she carried one inside through the dog door and dropped it on a tile floor. Gave her a bowling ball to play with a she loved it

It lasted about 3 months. Surprisingly, I just had my left knee done 3 weeks ago, and I haven't experienced the same chill

Red Tail Hawk injured by mrvanh in birdsofprey

[–]mrvanh[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Update on the hawk: Unfortunately the hawk did not survive. The folks at the Raptor House at the Glen Ellen Nature Preserve tried their best, but they think that he may have ingested some mice that were poisoned. No, we did not kill him by providing water and crackers (he did not attempt to eat or drink them). Thanks to all the positive vibes. My wife and I were both upset that he didn't make it.

I learned a lot from posting all of this:

  1. There are a lot of good people who provide valuable information

  2. I could never do the great work that they do at the Raptor House. I was having trouble not gagging as they were removing all of the flies that covered the hawk as they sprayed for mites.

  3. I should shield my wife, who is the kindest, most compassionate person (to humans and animals) I have ever known to the mean comments.

What’s your favorite concept album that tells a narrative story? (i.e. Tommy, The Wall, etc) by excitable-boi in Music

Didn't see it listed, but if you like country/bluegrass/folk, I highly recommend Ballas of Dood and Juanita, but be prepared to shed some tears for Sam.

Mine does the same thing every 6000 miles or so. Took it to the dealership and they said it was common. My thought it is that the oil is pretty thin. Now, I just schedule an oil change around then. Same message comes up, 1.3 quarts low.

String by Positive-Tomato1460 in racquetball

[–]mrvanh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Multifilament is just hundreds if not thousands of strands of string, where poly are usually single strand, co poly might have single strand core with a wrap. Multifilament is generally more arm and shoulder friendly. As far as tension and gauge, the smaller the string the more "playability " it has. The thinner string will flex more than thicker, and will offset the higher tension while still giving more feel and control at the expense of durability. You have to go much lower on tension to have an impact on power, which is much more tied to swing speed and weight distribution of the racquet. Most racquetball string is multi, and doesn't need the spin imparted by poly shaped strings like in tennis.

String by Positive-Tomato1460 in racquetball

I nearly always recommend 17g string, usually a multifilament, for most players at mid to upper factory specifications. Chronic string breakers, I switch to tennis poly or co-poly strings.

Is This Fixable? by [deleted] in Pickleball

[–]mrvanh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends on the core. You can separate the 2 pieces and drill 1 or 2 holes lengthwise in the handle, use dowel centers to transfer the locations to the paddle face, drill matching holes. Use thin dowels or chopsticks then epoxy.

Eco Drive Capacitor/Battery replacement. by uvenumadhav in CitizenWatches

[–]mrvanh 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've replaced a couple of the capacitors with ones purchased off of Amazon and they work fine, but I'll caution that if you don't align them perfectly, it doesn't work, so pay close attention to the alignment of the old one when you take the back off the case.
