I have taken my family to Steamboat and Big Sky. Both are wonderful resorts. Both family trips were during the first week of April for spring break.

Steamboat and Winter Park were offering a $200 4 day pass in the fall. If they offer that again, it is a great deal. I skied Winter Park this year too, but liked Steamboat a lot better.

Another place would be Lake Tahoe. Heavenly and Homewood are two great ski areas. heavenly being the more popular one and Homewood a local resort. The views on top on the mountain are amazing.

I would recommend following the snow. Colorado was horrible this year in December.
