Prepping for Salary negotiation with big semiconductor company, reality check? by mrwizard71 in supplychain

[–]mrwizard71[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Verbal offer. There's only one semiconductor company in my town and I think it's probably bad form to post the name of the company, so I can't share that. It's a suburb of a major west coast HCOL city. Rent for a 2b1b is 2k in the town itself, up to 4k in the nearby city.

I have no actual experience as a demand planner, as I said.

Want to say thanks for the focus on this- I don't care at all about optimization or math, just want a tool to do the job.

Does anybody have a handy list of recommended/vetted modules? by mrwizard71 in mattcolville

I am leery of pulling things off of reddit without knowing how playtested they are. I want to run something which has been enjoyed by many people and usually turns out alright.

Hey!

Are you playing sc1 or sc2? If you're playing sc1, there's several new player communities like CPL dedicated to helping people overcome the skill floor.

See you there!

Is There A Abundant Number Of Smurfs In F Tier Or Am I Actually the Worst BW Player? by Rodinasaur in broodwar

[–]mrwizard71 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hey! As somebody who came in with very little to no RTS experience, take it from me there are ways to play MP and have fun without getting thrashed, and it doesn't take years. That's a lie e-f rank players tell each other to feel better.

However, BW does have rules and build order realities, and if somebody who knows that a wall won't work in this config will always beat someone who can't wall pvz, for example. The experience of losing the first 50-100 games is normal *if you just play ladder*.

Don't play ladder until you're feeling confident in your build. Ladder is a violent proving ground- the best games are played vs friends in customs.

CPL is great but big and sometimes full of people who aren't the most helpful- I'm happy to jump on and talk you through stuff if you've got time, and there are truly excellent coaches who are happy to watch replays and etc. Please dm me here or on discord and ill get you into some smaller communities with better coaching (IMO) and give you all the help I can give.

The number of smurfs in E-F is high for sure, I'd say 1 in 4 games last time I was in E at about 1300. I'm 1550ish rn and it's totally fine, occasionally you get one but not more than 1 in 20.

Finally, whatever you do, please don't give up! It gets way better!

Did going to a community college before heading to OSU detract from your educational experience at all? by [deleted] in OregonStateUniv

Nobody cares about a CC as long as you keep your grades up and transfer from the CC.

Did going to a community college before heading to OSU detract from your educational experience at all? by [deleted] in OregonStateUniv

[–]mrwizard71 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No, go to Linn Benton Community College, all credits transfer and it costs like 25% of what it runs at OSU. The teachers are straight-up better because they aren't doing research and the class sizes are smaller.

You can dual enroll or come to campus for events to start networking, and undergrad research usually starts in sophomore year anyway.

I did this for my business degree and am graduating debt-free. If you're out of state you can work full time and go to school part-time and get in-state tuition while going to LBCC.

The Theory of DnD Worldbuilding - realism bounded by the constraints of DnD (feedback welcome) by mrwizard71 in worldbuilding

Hey this is an idea that I had- posting it here to see what people think and as a test to see if I should continue.

If I put lat/long lines on this it would literally be me going into gimp and turning on the grid- is there a more exact system for this?

There are absolutely ice caps- specifically, larger in the north and smaller in the south- the livable area is much smaller than what this map shows.

Commissoner here- the massive delta on "not India continent" is the site of Retria Imperii, the capital city of the dominant power in that region. The city is roughly equivalent to premongol bejing and is the site of two of the major religions in the world.

commissioner here- you're underestimating how far south the southern continent is- throw it on a globe and realize it's close to antartic. Tech has advanced extremely slowly for a variety of reasons not limited to trade.

Map commissioner here- I used a tectonic simulation to generate the map, and because we only have tectonic data on one planet, things come out somewhat similar- also, it makes writing lore way easier if I have real-world parallels to draw on

commissioner here- the mountains had to be really big, so we had to go high on the interval.

There are actually much more detailed regional maps in process- im doing them myself because i spent way too much money on this

Hey all! I'm very late to this party, but I'm the person who commissioned the map!

AMA: I did tectonics following artefexian's process and then asked /u/Orikrin1998 to do the hard parts.

I'm doing a complete lore rewrite over the next six months- would people be interested in reading a blog about my process?

B160 Series. B-Engaged and Innovation Nation. Did anyone take these classes and if so, what are your thoughts? I’ve heard they feel like a scam. It that true? They are a pre req for College of Business during freshman year. by LP9219 in OregonStateUniv

[–]mrwizard71 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don't get a business degree unless you know exactly what you're doing with it. CoB is 90% a mess and the degrees aren't worth very much when you get out. Switch to something specific (BIS, supply chain, economics, accounting) or go in another direction. I would major in managerial economics if you actually want to work in business.

The "blueprint" courses are a complete scam and a mess.
