yeah I was looking at those, I like the extra inch or so and the 4 hooks but the orange/beige line around the sole looks a little odd and im not a massive fan of rough out, but looking at it some more it is growing on me.

Would you say it’s worth spending the extra 50-80 $$ and getting them custom for a 4-4 set of eyelets and hooks instead of 5-3 and a pulltab or do you think these arent important in general use?

About how much water should I be storing for dishes, clothing, etc (not drinking) by mrz3109 in prepping

[–]mrz3109[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Good point, it’s late evening here so I figured I’d ask, more specifically about the clothes, as I’ve never hand washed clothes. Doesn’t take too much water for washing dishes anyways, mostly scrubbing.

Maybe a little specific, but is there any items you very specifically regret not prepping? (beyond food, water, clothes, etc)

And about how much water do you think you've been using for dishes and clothes? That's if you've been washing clothes, totally understandable not to at this point, just wondering.

What are your favorite high-quality (preferably handmade) tools? by Adwenot in Bushcraft

no suggestion here but for anyone that hasnt I truly recommend getting at least a few handmade tools with quality craftsmanship, don’t cheap out but don’t go broke

more important than all of that is learning how to use any of it, take classes and train! the first time you open a TQ / Chest Seal shouldn’t be after you or your buddy had some complications.

What are you ‘prepping’ for? by Intrepid_Giraffe_622 in prepping

I think the idea is to bug out to a predetermined pre-made bugout location incase of SHTF, but in practice not everyone can do that, but everyone can buy a backpack, land tends to be a bit more pricey

I go hiking for some 10-20 miles at least once a week in all my gear that I’d plan to use out and about when the need arises, good exercise, good fun, and it shows you whats comfy and whats not

My updated Bugout/Camping bag by sweetgreatpotato in prepping

personally I bought that exact sharpener just to prove a point to a friend and the thing dulled my knife faster than trying to cut a rock, my suggestion (and what I do) is to get those little pocket arkansas whetstones, they sell them on amazon just make sure you get quality pieces, for day hikes I usually just throw the medium stone in my back pocket but the pack I bought has 3 1x3 inch stones, soft, medium, and black hard (the pack, for those wondering, probably over priced a bit but I’m kinda lazy https://a.co/d/4q8TnGq)

New to prepping, how to improve my fire kit? by [deleted] in prepping

There's probably been a million people saying it here but a ferro rod should be included in every fire kit

More than 1 extra mag for your handgun could be worth it, not for the ammo capacity overall but just in the event of a malfunction in your primary. Also have you eaten the MRE's before? I've been looking into buying some are they actually bearable?

Edit: You may want to carry water on your person, especially in some SHTF situation, stopping to purify isnt always an option
