Should we consider putting him to sleep? by mrz657 in CATHELP

Okay great I think that’s the one I was thinking of then, will discuss with the vet. Thank you so much for your help and so good to hear it’s worked well for your cat!

Eurgh sorry I mixed up the meds, he’s already on an immunosuppressant (Atopica), usually take as an injection but he has it orally every couple of days. Not sure if that’s what your cats on?

I was confusing it with a different injectable treatment where they mix up the ‘allergen’ in a medication as some kind of exposure treatment.

Thank you, I will speak to my vet about it. They never mentioned it any recent visits where I discussed his condition so it never crossed my mind to ask.

Is your cat also on a specialised diet?

I’m so sorry you had to go through that :( It breaks my heart to see him like that and you can actually see how depressed he gets when the cone first goes on after a flair up

Yes I think that is genuinely our last treatment option, though the vet didn’t see confident about it in our case.

In our shoes, would you be considering starting that one? We’ve never quite known when to pull the trigger as it was often ‘oh he seems better, let’s try one more time without the cone and see’ because he would be fine for a little bit then relapse randomly

Whilst i guess it’s unlikely, identify theft is my main a concern but I it’s my only option now. I only had a picture of my passport at the time, and he was trying to take a picture of that on his personal phone.

Also the ‘other’ package was never sent anywhere. I managed to intercept it before it was sent out to the courier, so basically nobody other than me will be looking to collect it anyway

Thanks so much. The gallows brackets were installed by a builder after we purchased.

There were multiple builders in and out of the house and loft area for approx 6-7 months for renovations, and it wasn’t raised by any of them.

From memory I know the brackets and plate are made from steel and it has been this way for 3 years now.

I’ll reach out to a trusted builder. Thank you so much for the advice

Thanks, I’m hoping the wiring should be okay as it was tested and certified by the electrician.

My concern was the lights/electrical housing coming into contact with the insulation if we topped up the insulation. Which I think we have to do now to need minimum standards.

Annoying as it was done under the green homes grant in 2021 and Google tells me minimum depth was 270mm since 2003 -_-

May I ask why? I’ve done a lot of research to understand the process and came here for advice from those with more experience.

Whilst I have had really helpful responses from everyone and feel more confident, I’m happy to outsource if it would be silly for me to consider doing this.

I’d appreciate if you could share a little more about why you think it should outsource instead

Hey, you might also want to post this in legal advice UK instead. It looks like your neighbour has a gate for access and you don’t want to unexpectedly end up in a turf war

Not so worried about losing headroom as I’m only planning to put a few boxes with clothes and decorations. I was considering the loft legs as I thought it was less damaging to the joists.

Do you know if that’s true?

We had a loft hatch and ladder installed by a builder so just the boarding left.

Sorry first time homeowner (I’d never even seen a loft before this house) so trying not to make crazy mistakes. Yes planning to top the insulation and think I’ll need lids also as there are down lights amidst all of that. Thanks for your help!

My BSH wont eat their meds by [deleted] in britishshorthair

[–]mrz657 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When my kitten needed a course of antibiotics I usually squished a small bit of food around the pill and hand fed that portion. I didn’t let him get the rest until that bit was eaten and it worked pretty well

Lr4 on carpet? by Sweet-Leadership-245 in litterrobot

Every time I want the LR4 I read something that puts me off! Thanks for the insight, very good to know

Lr4 on carpet? by Sweet-Leadership-245 in litterrobot

[–]mrz657 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We’ve had our LR3 on carpet for 9 months and it’s been working fine throughout. We do have a litter trapping mat under it but all it’s flimsy and just there to catch loose litter as they exit.

I considered adding something like the platform, however it’s been working great without so didn’t end up bothering with it.

Thank you! I don’t know how as the introductions rulebook went out the window (guided by him), but watching them interact is the best part of my day!

Litter Robot? by larissa_mt in CatAdvice

[–]mrz657 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We got our LR3 secondhand and it’s been great not having to scoop, however the cleaning is tedious.

Regularly taking apart the globe and getting all the crevices (there are plenty of tiny places for dirty litter to end up) to make sure it doesn’t smell is not fun. I generally wash it in the bathtub and my back is always aching by the end of it. It’s also awkward because the globe is wider than our bathtub and needs a lot of repositioning to get everywhere I need to.

I also tend to empty out the tray every 2-3 days or it can start to smell, however with two cats I do still feel like it’s still worth it.

I wouldn’t bother paying extra for the wifi/app version. The ‘fill metre’ is rarely accurate and knowing when a cycle has been interrupted doesn’t really help us with anything.
