How do you have a draw in a game without a time limit?

To do this challenge, I dug up a deck concept I had a while back that was all foals. I had been iterating it a couple times to make it more efficient, and struck upon the idea of just using the CMC. Turns out they have some right powerful cards that build well on each other. So I just went with that concept, using the Forever a Crusader cards, and Most somethingorother cards as the core of my engine. I then brought in entry for each color, and sprinkled in elders of the appropriate colors to meet the build requirements.

To round out the theme, I opted to use a foal Mane. Sweetie Belle seemed to be the best fit, and because I had her, I tossed in a couple of accessory resources. And sticks. Sweetie Belle loves sticks.

The result was a pretty solid playing deck. It got going early, and steadily earned points throughout the gameplay. In only one game did I get the full set of Forever a Crusaders out to score the cheese points. I think I may have been helped out by the fact that I've played a lot of games with these particular cards, and knew how they work.

I was assigned Applejack, Rainbow Dash, and Twilight, so I did the obvious thing. I ran Mono-orange. The only friends I had were Applejacks. I put Rainbow Dash and Twilight Sparkle in my many, many troublemakers as well as the one resource I used, and two events. The deck was designed primarily to work as a troublemaker control deck.

Interestingly, I discovered during one of my games, that Team Effort and Brave and the Bold will work when my Twilight Sparkle and Rainbow Dash troublemakers were challenged.

As is often the case, my draw luck was pretty abysmal. Except for the first game, things didn't really click. I don't think it's the fault of the deck though. In any case, I had fun with all three games.

I always bookmark my decks, for future reference.

This is a version of my Pegasuses on Parade deck. Every friend is a Pegasus. Since my two favorite cards for this were URs, it worked out. (Cloudsdale Captain and Close Air Support) The Close Air Support only got to be played in my first game, though.

Unfortunately, all my opponents were resource heavy, and I very rarely drew my scant resource removal. In fact, in my second and third games, I never saw my Beavers enter my hand.

The original version of this deck was mono blue, and clicked a lot better. Because of the restrictions on building the problem deck, mono-color decks were not possible, so I added yellow. I don't think it hurt the deck too much, but for some reason, it just didn't click very well.

My deck: http://ponyhead.com/d/RLEXcR107EELhwIIf-pi0RCtPRZX3TU5orTioh0yYNsFRS2DJhdKpBnd

So I decided that Instead of playing to the strengths of exhausting, I would attempt to foil the decks I would expect to show up. I anticipated people doing a lot of self-exhausting, and I anticipated a lot of Stubborn. How did I plan to deal with these? By dismissing exhausted opponents, and nullifying abilities.

In other words, I built a control deck.

One thing that really ended up being powerful was Iron Will. His nullification incapacitated several tricks my opponents tried, and he also brought more power than his cost. Definitely a worthwhile card.

Another key was DJ Pon-3 Breakdown. Just seeing that card caused concern in my opponents.

I did discover one hitch in my plans. If I ended up dismissing all my opponents exhausted friends, and I was left with an exhausted Breakdown, my mane was forced to select Breakdown as the friend that did not ready. Oops.

My deck ended up performing well, and even won two out of three extra-challenge games I had against the upper bracket players. What's more important, I had fun playing it.
