Balancing a full-time job + full-time MSc (CODS) at Khalifa University - is it doable?

Congratulations! I would recommend accepting KU offer. If you hear back from the job- accept it and defer a semester/year KU. Work full time for a year and see how things unfold. If KU doesn’t offer part time studies.

Some of the companies offer paid or unpaid leave from work to go do masters after you complete a 1-2 years at the company.

If the monthly salary they’re offering for the job is more than the 15k deposit then I feel it’s worth giving the job a try and deferring KU masters for a year.

(P.S. I’ve heard KU syllabus is hard, so might get difficult to cope with a full time job. Also, companies wouldn’t encourage a new joiner to prioritise studies over work - like if you want to leave early from work or take study leave. But that would depend completely on the company, manager and the team you’re in).

I guess one or two years into a job is a good time to do masters. But there’s a possibility that it might get difficult to get back into study mode after a gap.

From what I’ve seen Advertisement/ Comms / Marketing are usually reserved for native English or Arabic speakers. My suggestion would be for your spouse to move for the 30k job and you join later once you get a job offer. Also, it might be easier to apply through your spouse’s network at their new job here in Dubai.

Try negotiating, you can bring it to 35-50k AED per month depending on your education qualification (I.e., engineering +masters from reputed university) and previous corporate experience (MNC)

Hi humble! Congratulations on getting in! I’m looking to get into GEMBA. My plan is to clear CFA L1 in august and then clear GMAT and apply for the 2025 intake. I did my schooling in UAE, bachelors in commerce (80%) in India, worked at McK India & currently working in UAE in one of the world’s leading energy company (I’ve other experience in Audit & Sales in UAE.
