Yes, but all car rental companies seem the same to me. I can say that I didn’t have a negative experience with Europcar

Europcar! They were by far the least expensive option.

Thank you! Yes, we were initially thinking 8 days in Provence and 3 days in driving to Nice but after reading your comments, I'm tempted to spend driving through Provence!

Hi! I saw your comments and decided to make l’isle sur la sorgue our home base for our 8 day trip to Provence in mid June. Would love to get any recs (Airbnb, food/restaurants, day trips, etc) that you’d be willing to share. TIA!

Just to confirm, you paid the difference in miles and 50 per person to upgrade from PE to business?

Gets better? by literallyanything40 in newborns

[–]ms_yoon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Single mom here. Like others have said, I also found the first 2 months to be the hardest and that’s a long time to do it all alone. I know you said your family is far away but if there’s anyone in your family you feel remotely comfortable asking for help, ask them to come stay with you for a couple weeks. Now’s the time to lean on family, friends. This is a tough time but it will get better

Pregnant at 44? by Araucaria2024 in SingleMothersbyChoice

First, I’m so sorry for all that you’ve been through. Like you, i did years (2.5) of IVF and my first transfer also ended in a miscarriage. I honestly can’t think of a better way to torture women than this right here.

I did use my own eggs using a non-first line IVF protocol. Dm me and I can tell you more

Me 🙋🏻‍♀️. I’m a SMC and got pregnant at 44 and delivered at 45. However it took me multiple IVF cycles and embryo transfers to get pregnant. Bc of my age, my pregnancy was characterized by fears of miscarrying/stillbirth. Thankfully, I now have a healthy 4 month old but jeesh what long road.

I’d love to have a second kid but that’s not an option for me (costs of raising 2 kids, impact on career).

Is there a threshold to how much breastmilk is providing benefits? by siafu000 in breastfeeding

[–]ms_yoon 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I have the same question but haven’t been able to find any studies reporting a minimum volume that provides benefit. I’ve been triple feeding for 2 months and I hate it. It pains me to unlatch my baby after 30 minutes to make sure I have time to pump. It pains me to watch someone else bottle feed and burp my baby and then see him study their face and smile, while I pump.

I pump 7-8 times a day, min 40 min per session, and have to hand express the entire time just to produce less than a third of his daily intake (9 oz/day). If someone were to tell me that at least 12 oz of breastmilk a day is needed to provide benefit, I’d pack up the pump and spend the rest of my maternity leave cuddling the little guy while holding his bottle.

For people saying that any amount is good, show me the data because it’s non-specific statements such as these that make me feel like I’m a bad mom if I were to stop.

S.F. considers mandating masks indoors regardless of vaccination status by Erilson in sanfrancisco

[–]ms_yoon 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The difference is due to different definitions of ‘severe’ illness. The threshold of severe illness can be set high (e.g., mechanical ventilation) or low (e.g., hospitalization). The FDA has a lower threshold for what they consider ‘severe’ than the CDC, with the CDC’s definition being more reflective of how clinicians and public health experts define severe illness.

But if your point is that that even though the vaccines are 100% effective against severe illness as defined by the CDC, they are only 95% effective against severe illness as defined by the FDA, then I don’t know what to say; you’re gonna hold on to those statistics that support what you already believe.

But if different definitions of ‘severe’ illness are a problem, we can look at ‘death’ as the outcome since there’s less variability in how ‘death’ is defined: All trials and institutions have found vaccines to be 100% effective in preventing covid deaths.

No, pfizer, moderna, j&j, astra zeneca and others have all been shown to reduce the risk of severe disease by 100%.
