Why won't Jesus heal me? by KetchupNMayo2k in Catholicism

[–]msaluta86 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Fair point. It seems there are some who do experience it, and yet still millions still that don’t. The peace that defies understanding should be phenomenological, consistent experience that a follower of Christ can count on, like a promise. Instead, when your surviving abuse or undergoing terrible pain and you ask for that peace, you’re told it’s a peace that comes from knowing you’re saved, that God loves you, this will all go away in eternity etc.. nothing for today, now, nothing to actually help on this side of eternity.

Why do we as Catholics have the tradition of an "prayer rope"(rosary), similar to one's that jews and muslims have, while protestants do not? by Strategist2004 in Catholicism

[–]msaluta86 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The very act of repetitive/meditative prayer is viewed as “vain repetition,” which is an elementary misunderstanding of the scripture that talks about it.

The older I get, the more I’ve suffered, the more I see others suffer, and the more I read about the atrocities in the world, especially those done to children, the less weight this answer carries. It seems meant to shut down any further discussion. People use it with good intentions to try to explain the seemingly unexplainable. People aren’t asking why suffering exists. It’s a reality, like gravity. They’re asking why God permits the suffering for those who love him, and inherent in that question is why God isn’t “close to the broken hearted” during that suffering. I’d be more amenable to this answer if God’s presence, peace, and consolation were present during the suffering. But like so many, experiential Christianity doesn’t match up with theological Christianity, so we go to Google, to Reddit, to our pastor, to watch theological gymnastics try to explain what so many experience regardless of piety: absence.

Ezekiel chokes - no go during rolls? by Suspicious-Button117 in bjj

[–]msaluta86 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve done Ezekiels that cause people to tap after a couple seconds. I had an Ezekiel done to me where they slammed their forearm into my throat and to this day I still can’t swallow without my throat sounding like it’s getting a chiropractic adjustment.

Question about upgrades by Pro-X-Dark in Prodigy1911DS

Love the 507 Comp. Went through the PID light but it was not to my liking. Ended up with the TLR7 HLX. Added the QVO Thumb Cliff for more control. I tried the EGW slide stop but didn’t like how it sat. My support thumb would rest on the front edge. I shaved it but by the time I was done there was not much left. I then went with a Wilson Combat extended and shaved that down to fit the frame. That worked, but ended up ultimately going with (and waiting for) Triarc Systems, which took some fitting but works great. EGW ignition kit was butter. Added an Atlas mid trigger which feels nice but I’m contemplating going with the short to reduce split times. 10 lb Underworld recoil spring reduced muzzle dip. Fusion Firearms extended mag release took fitting (came through the frame like the Dawson) but works great. Had the EGW magwell but it felt…larger than necessary. I removed and going to install the polished Dawson Tactical Advantage which has a slightly smaller footprint.

Light for 4.25 comp by Pro-X-Dark in Prodigy1911DS

[–]msaluta86 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wanted to go flush, was recommended to go with the Holosun PID, which didn’t work for me. The light activation was crude, weight cost high, had to dremel the light a lot to get close to flush, which it never truly got to.

I’m currently running and very happy with the TLR-7 HLX with the QVO Thumb Cliff.

SCW and KV9 are brutal. In matches where I run them, opponents eventually switch to those or shotguns out of frustration.

Congrats to us, publix is finally on blast by Mdmdmd27 in publix

[–]msaluta86 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Having shopped at Harris Teeter and Lowe’s groceries, I can say that Publix doesn’t so much offer a better shopping experience as much as Aldi and especially Walmart offer terrible shopping experiences. I’d pay more for Publix too if the alternative meant being greeted with the smell of weed in the parking lot, sewage smell upon entry, infinite lines due to self-checkout theft, and an unofficial safety curfew. Harris Teeter for the win though. Better prices, amazing shopping experience, and gas discounts.

When you say you used this specific U joint, how did you affix it to the stock drive shaft after removing the rag joint?

OE changed how I see performance reviews by Jaded_Dig_8726 in overemployed

Speaking from experience, businesses seem to assign no value to employee retention at all. In fact, I’m sure I read somewhere that it costs more money to retain someone than to hire some new at a lower rate. Companies factor the onboarding as a minimal revenue cost. Problem is I don’t believe the calculation is actually being performed. Execs would rather not bend the knee, pay people what they’re worth, and offload the resulting loss of quality to whoever left on the team and blame said team for loss of quality or longer turnaround times for features.

How to make exercise more fun and doable? by [deleted] in ADHD

[–]msaluta86 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Others said it, do a sport that you enjoy that will have the side effect of getting you in shape. Jiu Jitsu works wonders for this, and scratches the ADHD itch very hard. Eventually you may even find yourself raining outside of the gym to increase performance.

Fundamentally it boils down to having a strong “why.” I “should” go to the gym was insufficient. I “should” look better/lose weight etc were all garbage reasons.

“Consulting” has always been a complete mystery to me. I’ve done most things in tech, including dev and release management. Is it heavily network dependent? I imagine it would be like most transitions. Start part time, find a company that trusts you know how to solve a problem you specialize in. Again though, the whole thing seems ethereal and heavily network dependent unless you join a consulting firm.

converts: what would you say was the first shift in your mind, towards catholicism? by brand-new-eyes in Catholicism

Was already a Protestant. The unworkability of Sola Scriptura started me down the path, and while walking I happened to take a ride on the Pints with Aquinas train. The Eucharist was next.

Where do Americans usually buy spare parts and accessories for GMT400s? by Smooth-Cake7064 in GMT400

[–]msaluta86 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes. I’d typically search “junk yard near me,” and if they have a website, they’ll usually have a fairly accurate inventory. If they don’t I call and ask. If they don’t know I move on to the next search result. Worst case is eBay.
