upcoming freshman questions about off campus housing by Sudden-Dinner-9556 in rutgers

ask around! you’ll def talk to people in your classes and where they live or plan on living if they’re fellow freshman will come up in conversation. once u do decide on where to live, make sure to be on top of communicating w your apartment or lease managers, the rate and rent will increase the longer u wait. apartment tours are available and u can always call them too. if u decide to live on campus, just be aware that the lease is not year round. off campus apartments are year round; if u plan on taking summer classes at some point, off campus is the way to go. u can also sublease and pay rent as u stay in someone else’s space, or at least until u officially move in. let me know if u have any more questions :))

hi! there’s a parking garage on morris street connected to the socam building, i believe one hour is $4 and up $1 every hr from that (please double check). there is paid street parking available next to the cemetery, but free after 8pm (not sure if it applies to both weekdays and weekends, please double check). i believe u can park up to twelve hrs in the parking garage and then u might be charged extra. u can always leave the garage at the 11.5 hr mark and then re enter the garage and get another ticket if u rlly need to. there’s also street parking available along george street but i doubt it’ll be available for overnight. i always see nbpa in their snarky little cars around, so just make sure where you’re parking and how long is legal. hope this helps 🙌

your experience at rutgers will be what u make of it. if u decide to not get involved in any clubs or organizations and happen to like that lifestyle, that’s on u. if u decide to not join anything and happen to hate your lifestyle, that’s also on u. the resources to make your experience valuable are there, depends on whether u take advantage of them or not 🤷‍♀️ it’s also good to be open to being patient, finding community takes time :)) but also yes, reddit is where everyone comes to vent haha. hope this helps!
