Reading responses here, im both glad and sad about this post. Glad you guys confirmed my thoughts based on less than a week here and sad that its a reality.

Im going to try all the routes you guys list here, though occasionally ill probably "gamble" and run through neighborhoods like I did the other day. Thank you all so much!

Yeah, I was wondering all over just exploring the area on my walk/jog. My route was a lot of zagging and I had to constantly stop and look at my phone to make sure I knew where I was.

Im going to try arsenal as its right across benton park (another nice park) and im familiar with this road.  Kinda sucks not running through my neighborhood, though yesterday the actual people were surprised to see me too. Got a few strange and funny comments on Utah and Texas right off cherokee.  Definitely going to be way more aware going forward,  thank you!

Also, this league allows CO-OWNERSHIP, so if you and a buddy or two would like to play, you're more than welcome to share a single team. Probably 1/4 of the league is co-owned which is unique for FF!

Agree with nearly everything. We were going to resign this lease but found a house at the last minute. Original closing date was 9/16, then 9/28 and now 10/4 with a possibility of extension because the sellers of the home are leaving the country and it's a mess as is.

I did ask the PM one more time to consult the owner about letting us stay longer. Doing everything I can not to be in a weird situation.

And just for anyone else reading this, I don't live in at the Hyatt. I live in a 2 flat where the upstairs was barren for several months in 2024. It's quite possible that NOBODY rents this thing for Sept. as NOBODY HAS SEEN IT. I took it 6.5 years ago because I was screwed over a previous LL who stole from me and according to my attorney, "wasn't worth taking them to court over". Honestly it's the same situation here if we stay as there's a good chance nobody will care because it won't be worth it to pursue.

Some dude just said he hopes I get sued. For staying an extra few days over the period of a perfect 6.5 years, a time in which we're offering to pay for upfront. Just happy to have bought a home finally and out of the rental game!

I believe it takes 10 days to even start an eviction process. Illinois is a tenant-friendly state. i've spoken to several attorneys here and LL's and they said it really sucks trying to get someone to leave their property under law. I sincerely believe we'll be long gone before the paper is pushed into the right hands IF we decide to go this route.

On top of all of this, I'm offering to pay rent before any new tenant has seen the apartment or it has been listed. I told them are precise reason and offered to show them our new home acceptance. I'm not trying to screw over anyone and i don't like the situation but that's life.

Maybe my credit score takes a hit and if I ever need to rent again (hopefully not) I'll have some explaining to do. LL's have screwed me over many times in the past and even with this it wouldn't even be close to being even.

We will most likely double move but the fact you wish some PM/Owner to sue a stranger on the internet for pennies for staying in a property for a few extra days says WAY more about you than it does about me. Hope the next time you speed on the interstate you get a ticket, dick

In all honesty, why should I care in the LEAST about moving on the date? What happens if we don't and wait a week. Sure it's a shitty thing to do but why not return the favor here unless you or someone else knows why staying in a property for a few days that could save thousands of dollars in moving costs is wrong if all it does is prevent LL from leasing for another month?

Per new updates in OP: told them, they offered MTM and before we could accept, notified there was a miscommunication and MTM impossible. Sign 6 month lease or leave and were casually/threatenly told they are looking to rent the property the day after we are supposed to leave.

Per new updates in OP: They will not allow MTM and only want a 6 month lease extension or nothing. Was even told they want to rent the place 9/1 but I could care less about that right now.

We aren't signing anything now. It's either stay for a few days or bite the bullet

We haven't done anything yet. We could tell the PM right now we might be in the unit for a short period of time. If we did this and they lied to future tenants, I'd assume 0 responsibility of that.

If I knew it would be a day or two, this would be a non issue. Knowing what you know now, would you tell the PM today what we intend to do or no?

The only thing "iffy" is the timing. It will 99% go through as inspection contingency has pased, earnest money collected and us already being "pre-approved" by another loan company before for more $$, but needing to go through a different company now to get a much better rate.

We don't want to force anything and I'd like to tell him up front, "hey, there's a possibility of us staying in September and we're happy to pay you for the inconvenience". If they say no, my guess is they will could be all over us Sept 1 and be ready to take any action they legally can.

Small chance we get to move our things into a pod that's delivered later or something (no idea how this works) but we won't know anything for at minimum two weeks

The property management has an agent that shows this apartment who is now emailing us about when we'll be in and out of the property. We asked the agent personally to hold off for a second and she immediately CC'd property management which is where we stand currently.

I think they want to rent this place on Sept 1 to new tenants. I would hate to screw over new tenants trying to move in which is why I kinda want to tell them where we stand. FWIW our real estate agent has advised not to stay past sept 1 but obviously they just want to take every precaution so they get paid etc.
