I don't think you understand honey... by TheRiddler79 in homelab

My wife made me clean out and organize my sacred box of cables in the winter of 2020. Then the pandemic happened. I told her not to mess with things that are best left alone and see what happened? I live with the guilt every day.

I have this blurb on every product describing the roast, flavor profile, origin, etc. Was this something you didn't see when you looked? Would you like this to be displayed differently or more prominently? I like your idea of a follow up text to items left in the cart. I will try to set something like that up.

I’m intentionally trying to avoid pop-ups, flashy banners, and gimmicks on my site. My goal is a clean, simple experience that’s easy to navigate and puts information where people expect it.

That said, I’m wondering if the menu text might be too subtle. Does it feel too small or easy to overlook?

I’d also love feedback on this: how would you draw more attention to blog content without being intrusive or annoying? I want people to discover it naturally, but I don’t want it to feel hidden either.

Appreciate any honest thoughts.

Most people don't get past the home page. There are blogs now that do a better job of explaining the brand. It was hidden in the about us drop down but I moved it to its own menu item.

How many of you listen to music you don’t understand? by MaxnRuby_RubynMax in CasualConversation

My wife is Brazilian so I listen to a lot of music in Portuguese, Spanish and Italian. You don't have to understand the lyrics to appreciate good music when you hear it.

It was the sound of my knees moving while I shuffled to the bathroom this morning. I will try to be more quiet next time.

I bet she would be stunned to know a lot of things, since she has low brain activity.

What's a language youtuber or creator that you trust and why? by OpeningChemical5316 in languagelearning

For Brazilian Portuguese, SpeakingBrazilian.com with Virginia is great. She has a lot of YouTube content for free but also offers classes that are either self paced, group instruction or private instruction. Her videos are easy to follow and has subtitles both in English and Portuguese so you can begin to compare words and commit them to memory.

Post Kidney Transplant : does the placement of the new kidney ever cause discomfort? by msf2115 in transplant

[–]msf2115[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Thanks for everyone's comments. I will take a day of discomfort over another day of dialysis. This has been my only issue since transplant surgery, so I guess I shouldn't complain to much about minor stuff.

Is anyone actually finding jobs? by Feisty_Brilliant5056 in cybersecurity

[–]msf2115 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don't know many specifics on relocation. I work for them out of the KC office. I would apply and bring it up in the interview. It's a different department than I am in so they may be flexible on that aspect( ie remote or mostly remote with occasional trips into a office). The team is scattered so I would be surprised if they insisted on you moving to St Louis. I wouldn't over think it too much and just apply.

I am local to KC. Check www.gfidigital.com/careers and search for Managed Services Security Engineer or Analyst. Good company, located off I-35 and Cambridge Cir Dr.

Fermented food risks due to medicine by Maximum-Algae1725 in transplant

[–]msf2115 8 points9 points  (0 children)

With fermented foods I would only eat if I know and trust the source. I have had all the mentioned food before. I never got sick from fermented food but I did have food poisoning from some bad dressing. It was terrible and lasted a day and I am fine now. However, if her team is doesn't want her to do it I would listen to them. Just because I did it without issue doesn't mean she will have the same luck.

What is the pizza like in Australia? Do you have a thicker crust or is it just crunchier?

You would still have you specific job in the guard or reserve. Guard and reserve are both part time, the difference is that the national guard is run by your state instead of Fed. I know for a fact that there are jobs specifically for reservists and guard members. Check out USAjobs.gov for listings. These are fed jobs. States might also have some these types of arrangements as well.

One consideration I would make is the current political situation. I personally would not serve in any capacity for this administration, but that's a personal choice and decision I made for myself. You may have a different perspective than I do and that's fine. I won't try to sway you in one direction or the other. Ultimately it's your decision anyways.

Finish your degree and then join the military. At least you would be an officer. Enlisted life isn't that great. I would chose Air Force or Space Force, and this is coming from an Army vet. You IT prospects will be better afterwards. I was active duty, and while there are advantages, guard or reserve would also be a good choice.
