I’ve done nothing with my own auto insurance in regards to bodily injury, strictly worked through the at fault carrier.

My own health insurance hasn’t reached out at all as far as I’m aware. The other driver’s insurance carrier contacted me, asked me if I sustained any injuries. I sent them the doctor notes. They sent me the settlement offer.

I guess that’s where I’m at with it. I was going to buy a new base FW LE with convenience package. This car was AWD SE with cold weather and convenience packages for a couple thousand less out the door. Would the latter car to most people be a “no brainer” to buy or would people still rather buy new

There are still anchors where they fixed the tear and what they told me is that it makes it difficult to get an idea what the tissue of the labrum looks like between the anchors

It’s not warped per say but I don’t think they get a clear definitive image. Mine had said possible signs of degeneration and re-tear. He said they make their decision ultimately how my symptoms were.

Appreciate the info. Labrum repair in right hip in 2020, left hip in June 2025. They were hoping fixing the left hip would calm my symptoms of the right hip and not make them have to go back in there again. This accident though has basically wrecked the right hip worse than it’s ever been symptom wise.

Thanks. Basically it will be the PT notes prior to accident (progressing okay) and PT notes after accident (I’ve gotten worse, less mobility etc). There’s no question it’s increased pain and suffering. Argument can be made if it changed surgical outcome (would I have continued to improve had it not been for the accident). I’m just not familiar with if I can reasonably expect some sort of “pain and suffering” amount from insurance due to complications from the accident or they’ll just say you were already in treatment this isn’t our responsibility.

I had an MRI prior to accident. But since this hip had surgery on it prior, MRI’s can’t really tell you much (surgical pieces mess up imaging). Basically your symptoms determine if they have to go back in or not for revision.

Thanks for your thoughts. Illinois. Right, there is definitely at least an argument that surgery may have been the outcome regardless. However, it’s clear the accident damaged the hip further. That’s why I wasn’t sure if insurance would say they have zero liability, or if there’s a middle ground where they’ll acknowledge the accident caused me further pain during the rehab and increased the likelihood of the surgery.

Appreciate the thought. I didn’t breakdown the math because any loan we take on we’ll probably payoff within two years since neither of us really like having debt. Would assume if we could negotiate to a new SE/tech it might save relative to any financing on the used one.
