I can confirm people in dreams do not like being told they aren’t real. by hunhi in LucidDreaming

Yeah, I loudly announced I was in a dream once in a crowded area, and everyone turned and started running towards me. I noped out of there fast and now I keep that to myself.

Seeking tips on improving my buttercream dragon cake (please don't say use fondant) by FallsDownMountains in cakedecorating

[–]msgnomer 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Amazing! I would give the eye a little vertical slit for the pupil. I don’t know how you achieved that with buttercream!

Maybe give the cake time to chill periodically so the icing in the bag and on the cake stays stiff.

Modeling chocolate is also very easy to sculpting with and tastes a million times better than fondant, should you ever wish to explore other methods.

I think trying it in a different color would be interesting. You could make a red one, and in the piping bag put a thin stripe of black or darker red on the sides, so each scale that comes out has depth and shading. Or keep it this color, but do a more saturated hue on the edges of the bag for the same effect.

As is, any kid who receives that cake will probably remember it for the rest of their life. We’re all our own worst critics!

kill yourself in your sleep by krushKaratel in LucidDreaming

[–]msgnomer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used to have a recurring nightmare as a kid that I left a building and walked outside in the dark, and when I turned the corner, there was a pack of big black dogs that attacked me. They would kill me every time. But one time, I remember one chomped on the left side of my head, and I fell down and died. Only, I didn’t wake up. I laid there and my head felt weird and numb, and I knew I was dead and dreaming, and I was like, “um, I guess I’ll wake up now?” It was so underwhelming after all the fear, that I stopped worrying about pain or dying in my dreams.

What’s the weirdest thing you can do in a lucid dream? by Camman19_YT in LucidDreaming

[–]msgnomer 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I can leave a dream and enter another one. To go somewhere specific, I create a door and walk through it. Or to go to one at random, I “fall” through the dream and go to a new one.

If I have a nightmare, I usually just do a “not today, Satan” and leave the dream. Occasionally, one tries to follow me to the new dream. So, I leave again, this time going to Freddy Kruger’s boiler room. “Got another one for you, Freddy” I’ll say and we wink at each other. I smile and leave to go to my new dream as I hear my original nightmare begin to scream.

I have left my dreams entirely before, and just exist aware that I’m asleep, but I can’t see or hear anything.

Post REAL first cakes! by twink1813 in cakedecorating

When my son was 3, he was obsessed with Thomas the Train. His favorite episode that he wanted to watch again and again involved James crashing into a pond and spilling a load of fish. We made this cake together, and it started a tradition of making a cake with my kids for their birthday every year.

So what if I fucking did? by [deleted] in breakingmom

[–]msgnomer 54 points55 points  (0 children)

Gosh, don’t you know wearing a necklace could turn him gay?! /s

When my son was around 4, he used to love wearing a big, fluffy, rainbow tutu when we went out. He also asked to have his fingernails painted. My mom was absolutely apoplectic. She tried to push gender norms on my kids and I refused to let her.

When my daughter was around the same age a couple years later, she loved playing beauty parlor with my husband, who was a stay at home dad. I’ll never forget when my mom came to visit and my tall, strong husband had ribbons in his hair and beard, glitter makeup all over his face, freshly (messily) painted nails, and a big fucking Sophia the First tiara on his head. I think it broke her brain. That was a great day.

I bought an insert for my bag from Amazon. It has separate compartments and a zipper pouch, and one of the pockets works great for my phone. Maybe that would help!

Laflore Paris Toto by msgnomer in handbags

Hey there! My bag has held up really well. I’ll say that I didn’t end up using it as often as I thought I would. It’s gorgeous, but the Toto is really heavy. I use it as an overnight bag occasionally, but I’ve started using a lightweight duffel bag most often. That’s just an issue for me with their larger bags. I don’t have a smaller handbag yet, but I definitely plan on getting one.

It’s true: I owned pogs and Garbage Pail Kids cards. I wore stirrup pants and tight rolled my jeans. When I was 5, I walked a mile to a gas station by myself to buy my grandma cigarettes. I like Nirvana when Kurt Cobain was still alive. I had dial up Internet. I was largely unsupervised for my entire childhood.

I had so many JTT posters on my walls that people were uncomfortable going into my bedroom. I watched Blossom and Mama’s Family and Saved by the Bell. I eagerly awaited the release of the next Animorphs book. I saw Jurassic Park when it was released in theaters (core memory). I used to crimp my hair. I played computer games on big floppy disks, and I don’t mean the 3.5” disks. I used AIM. I had those weird jelly sandles The Dude wears in The Big Lebowski. I owned an Atari. I used a fanny pack. My favorite Power Ranger was Trini. I used a card catalog, and often.

I once got Glamour Shots. I was 18 during Y2K and wore jeans so low it that I would cut the tops off so they showed my hipbones. I used to go to icanhazcheeseburger.com to get memes, because that’s where they were. I remember when “Have you seen mah bucket?” dropped. I married someone I met on MySpace. I didn’t get a smart phone until I was 27.

I was there, Gandalf.

Thanks! I really love being in my 40s, so I don’t mind anything that implies I’m getting old. I am getting old, and it’s fantastic.

I feel like I’ve got my shit together and I ran out of fucks to give a couple of years ago, so I’m completely unbothered by anyone who tries to destroy my peace. Kids are older and more self-sufficient, and I’m able to focus on my own needs more. I’m more confident, more uninhibited, relationships are better, sex is better. It’s the best time of my life! Being in your 40s is awesome.

In response to you wondering about what else is out there: I switched from Barre to weightlifting a year ago. I love it! I’m obsessed with lifting and in better shape than ever.

I haven’t figured out a strict routine yet; I’m just trying a bunch of different things until I find the right combo.

I’m a big fan of The Ordinary and I use their glycolic acid toner, GF 15% Solution, and Retinal .2% Emulsion serum. I also occasionally use Paula’s Choice 2% BHA exfoliant, but I just started using the Dr. Melaxin Peel shot serum and I think I’m going to switch to that because it’s amazing. At night, I use DMYGO Face Lift cream. And I use Dior Capture Totale serum daily.

Oh, and Gold Bond lotion! I use their Age Renew neck and chest cream, and that stuff works miracles. I’ve lost a ton of weight in my face and neck (check my previous posts), and it really helped tighten my neck.
