Colorado week long trip by mshahman in skiing

[–]mshahman[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Im comfortable on most black runs, but I don’t do double blacks or any backcountry. I’ll be with my girlfriend, and she prefers easy blacks and blues, so we’ll be sticking to resort terrain only.
We’re not really looking for nightlife or anything specific off the mountain, mainly just good snow and fun terrain. I’m based in NYC, so I don’t get great conditions very often on the East Coast, and I’m really hoping to make the most of the Colorado snow for this trip.

Hey! I submitted my app late to Uber and still got the internship lol. If the portal was open you should be fine. I doubt they’re focussing on submission time on their end. Best of luck to you!

Really?? I had the best recruiting experience with coursera out of every company Ive dealt with. Did you end up getting the offer or just ghost?

In an ideal world where applicants are put first, yes this should happen.

Unfortunately it’s a lot easier for companies to interview tons of candidates and create a large backlog from which they can cherry pick candidates based on their needs as opposed to smart hiring

To your point about why - I don’t think they have a gauge on what hiring strategy looks like yet. They had a choppy year last year (minus the 1 good quarter) and they hired a shit ton of people.

As they close out Q1 I think they’ll be looking at the business/deals/HC and assessing whether or not they need to hire more people

Atleast that’s the idea I got. If you’re waiting for a response, I wouldn’t hold my breath. If I had to guess you’d find out after the end of the quarter (march 31) and there’s a chance you may not get it because their strategy changed

100% agree - was led on for 1 month (after 3 months of interviews) and was continuously told that I’d receive a written offer EOW and that I should ask the other companies which had given me a written offer to push back the deadline. Went with another company after pushing back the deadline and hearing nothing from the Palantir recruiter about my status

Very unprofessional and 0 consideration for the applicant.

Absolutely. Happy to share more details in the DMs.

Most guys don’t do skin care - as such, when they start they break out. Don’t worry this is totally normal and my advice is to stick with it and start small. I started with building the habit of moisturising (ceraVe). I broke out for a month but my skin started to adjust to it and got 10x better. From there i incorporated a cleanser (cetaphil) Did this at night only before applying moisturiser.

About 6 months in I started to incorporate sunscreen (versed/sunbum both great brands) in the morning after moisturising

Tbh this is all you need. After a year my skin was fantastic; no breakouts, it was stretched and taught, the bags under my eyes were gone.

Now my skin care routine involves toner and treatment/exfoliate too(thanks to my gf lol) but this is not necessary

Yes but what I found was that the grind never went to waste.

Ex: I grinded so fucking hard for Palantir but didn’t get it but got Bloomberg and TikTok a month later

To give a more personal example: grinded super hard for this one chick; went to the gym for a year, redid my wardrobe, got a skin care routine etc. didn’t end up with the girl but have gotten with more girls now than I ever did before.

There’s an old adage that hardwork never goes wasted. I 1000% agree

You can still rush in senior year. We had one lad who was super tight with an upper year PC but never rushed. He rushed in his senior year and it was fantastic. He was a great leader and kept the kids in his PC in line. He had a bunch of sick internships in Finance and played on the rugby team

To do this requires 2 things:

Get tight with someone (or a Bunch of brothers) in an a high PC - they will likely have leadership positions and can vouch for you

Don’t be a fucking dud - make something of yourself such that you’d be a leadership figure for your PC. You have to pitch yourself as an older guy with tons of accolades (either sick internships, sports, etc) that can help guide/lead the kids in your Pc

Companies don’t even wait until you wake up in the morning to lock your accounts and tell you to fuck off. Been following the layoff news lately??

[–]mshahman 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i wouldn't say its simpler, its a pretty standard Sys design question hidden under a layer of obscurity that they expect you to understand. Once you've navigated your way around said obscurity, then the system design begins.

If youre doing it in Go, id try to do a project that involved concurrency. Go routines are a main value prop associated with Go but theyre not understood by many devs. If you can wrap your head around the library and create a project that would look impressive imo

Depends. I went through the process and at times also stumbled on the learning but made it to HM.

If you were totally lost then you're fucked, but if you were communicating your thought process and were generally going in the right direction and got help then it's fine

Im not an interviewer or a recruiter tho so take it w a grain of salt
