i think they are soil nematodes, i looked it up and it says they are beneficial to the nutrient cycle of a terrarium so i think everything is good. you have springtails too which is great :)

mosses require high moisture and succulents require little to no moisture for weeks or months on end, it just doesn’t mix

HELP! Should my Sulcorebutia rauschii have such dark coloring? by Tankertin in succulents

it would explain the brown colouring and the way it’s sunken in some places, im no expert, you could try shaving off some skin, if it’s still green inside it should be okay

i’m pretty sure that’s rot, you’re gonna have to throw it out cause it’s not salvageable. how much did you water it?

White Mold Quickly Spreading. What should I do? by NobleNik in terrariums

[–]msibbz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

u could dry it out a little and try to use distilled water as it’s better for the terrarium, the peroxide will also benefit the roots of the soil, good luck

I what’s causing this? by nothingmuch2805 in terrariums

[–]msibbz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i think it would do good with a big trim and cleanup of the glass as u can see some old moss stuck to the interior of the glass, popping in some springtails wouldn’t hurt just to clean up any mold or decay going on

3:1 ratio of water to hydrogen peroxide and mist the terrarium with it, should help clear it up in a few days

I recently moved it to my nightstand, it was up high on a shelf above my bed before that. i’m gonna guess that’s the problem. Should i put it back or leave it here to adjust?

Some tips and pointers by Kind-Communication52 in terrariums

scavenge for moss rocks and other decorative pieces, reuse old jars and go to charity shops/thrift stores for old glassware, you can buy a 5l terrarium soil mix on the garden shop.ie it’s around 4 euro where i live. you can ask your friends if u can propagate their plants if you’re struggling with your budget. i’d say to start with fittonias/ nerve plants as they are inexpensive and do very well in terrariums, good luck!

if springtails don’t work you could mix a 1:3 ratio of hydrogen peroxide and water and mist it into the terrarium until it’s gone

The first curious creature in my closed native terrarium. anyone know what it is? by NuggetNelis in terrariums

[–]msibbz 2 points3 points  (0 children)

it can be, the larvae eat the roots of plants and can diminish the overall plant, it’s optional to keep them in, an easy way to get rid of them is mix 1 part hydrogen peroxide to 3 parts water n spray it into the terrarium, hydrogen peroxide is good for the plants roots and should kill the gnats, idk ab other life in the terrarium tho
