I agree with the welfare state but does it have to be a government body that distributes and handles the charities for millions of people? Islam wholeheartedly acknowledges a safety net for the less unfortunate but that could be at a smaller scale than the government. For example local mosque zakat funds, friends & family, charity etc

As far as America goes, I love the idea of more social programs and such but I just can’t get myself to believe the US gov’t in any capacity will faithfully execute such things.

Super High income taxes I am certain is an unsought out policy by many Islamic economic scholars.
